What happened here????

This is my first encounter of this problem. I was running in high grass a little awhile ago when this crap happens. My gear mesh was good. Maybe it got to hot. I'm not sure if it was melted or chewed up....was the nut to tight that holds the spur gear? If it was to tight why didnt the outer teeth strip out?..or does an over thightened nut cause damage to the inside of the spur like this? I've never tackled this problem before..kinda lost here...I've only seen stripped teeth.

I tried to tighten the nut afterwards and it just spun..never got tight.
Is the gear reusable if i change out the pad? I have one more of those but no more gears.

P.s.!! The blue and gold that u see through the hole is only a sticker.

looks like you burnt the slipper try replacing the pad .. is that plastic bits or shreaded slipper on there?? scrape the slipper off and then take another pic.. did that software fix your video camera?

ok the white paper inside between the pad and the spur gear looks like the cover for the pad's adhesive backing. that is supposed to be removed so the pad is firmly attached to the spur gear. Can you confirm that is the adhesive backing? I'm guessing that the pad spun in the set up floating on that rather slick adhesive cover...

yea that what it looks like.. then it ate the slipper outline on the gear.. could prolly still use it just make sure you get the slipper on there strait.. fastrack got um for 5.99 and the hobby shop on normady i think got um for 4.99

I'm gonna try and reuse it....might as well use my other pad. Thats about right..Normandy is usually cheaper....and better service in IMO.

This looks to be the case. The mold that supports the slipper pad is destroyed. With the adhesive strip still applied to the pad, the contact between the pad and the spur were inconsistant of each other. The centrifugal force pushed the paper backing infront of the pad causing the seperation of the pad and spur.

i just spent £16.50 on a hardened steel spur gear hope it lasts longer then the stock one.

I've decided not to get the steel one.. i would rather strip a few spurs at 4.99 and all of 15 min to change.. than bust a tranny or diff. just my oppinion though..
