Hey guys,

Now that you have helped with the wheel and tire situation I know find myself looking for a good set of springs for bashing the Maxx. Do you recomend stiff or soft? I have the bigbore shocks currently on the truck but the springs that come with them are way to soft. Any recomendations on brand names. I looked for this info myself but there are way to many types of springs to choose from, a little overwhelming. Thanks

Tom

Yeah, the trinity springs are good. Lots of different choices. You want a somewhat stiff spring, but not too stiff, or your truck wont be able to absorb the bumps. I'm using UE shocks on my maxx, and I'm using the medium springs.. they work really nicely, i think if i were to start jumping a lot, i would switch to stiff springs, but you would need a thicker oil, so all the jump doesn't just go to the spring... if you try out some different choices, you will know what works best.

I run the Trinity Blue Monster springs on my T, they are great. I also recommend the RPM Dual stage pistons, these made a huge difference in the handling on my truck.

I use trinity black springs they are perfect for my driving. And I just installed RPM's dual stage pistons and wow what a difference they are a great buy.

I put the trinity blue on my bigbores with my first maxx.
I have the hotbodies threaded shocks on my 2.5 and I ordered the RC Raven springs.
Dual rate. They are nice.

Hey Guys when you refer to springs as "dual rate" what do you mean by that? Thanks

Tom

I have the RC Ravens springs on my 2.5 and love them. They are stiff enough for jumps but not too stiff. Price is excellent as well compared to other makes outthere.

Dual rate means they are soft for a certian portion of the travel, then they stiffen up with the rest of the travel.

Thanks for the answer 21. Would a setup like that work better for you if you were just bashing around or do you only want to run a dual rate spring when you race?

I would run dual rate for bashing in my opinion. If I were racing, I would probably put the stock springs on, or the ones that came with my hot bodies shocks. The rcravens are nice, but i wouldn't want to roll over because my springs were too hard.

You know I was thinking the same thing. I want stiff when I am bashing but not so stiff that the truck bouces over on its lid all the time. I like the fact that I can have the best of both world's in a suspension package. Now does the dual rate apply the the shocks or the springs?

Yeah, its on the springs. You should also get a variety of shock oils so you can mess with the oils too.

if u can't get a veriety of oils remember that u have 1,2 and 3 hole a 1 hole will make 10 wt feel much stiffer and a 3 hole will make thick fluid feel soft. it is just a matter of experimenting

I also have the hot bodies springs on my maxx I set the tension on them fairly high to make them stiffer they are awesome shocks and fully adjustable I love them!!!

I also lowered my tmaxx, and I am noticing more "bottoming" out on the skids.
I think I might use some heavier shock oil. I beleive I am running 50 in all of mine.
What do you guys do with the shock oil that you poor out?? do you keep it (put it back in old bottle) or do you throw it out??

thanks
adrian

Throw it out. Put it in a soda can or a plastic cup and throw it away. You always want to be putting in clean shock oil.

Tac try going 1 hole on your piston, Stiffer springs. You can save the shock oil I do.But only if it is fairly new and has not been in your shocks for a long time. cause the oil can break down after awhile or get dirt in it.

If its clear and you can see through it easily... i guess you could save it. But, if its foggy, its a good idea to just throw it out. I always start with new oil... Its not really a waste, but some people do think so...
