Hello,
Was wondering if anyone out there, that belongs to this forum wants to, or knows someone who wants to sponser me in the up and coming season at my local track. I run at Family Hobbies Raceway in Vineland,NJ which is known very well all up and down the East Coast. I just started racing this past year. I had never ran on a track until then and I think I did quite well for a rookie. I ran a RC10GT in Gas Truck, and a heavily modified Maxx in Monster Truck. I'll post my results on here in case someone is interested or curious. Thanx for the time. Heres my finishes:

What you can do is start at your LHS. Make sure you bring your results for them to see your progress. That's how I got mine. As for big name sponsors, well that has it's good and bad points. Most of the time it's just added pressure to do well as well as make an appearance at big competitions.

My brother and I got sponsored by our LHS after I made a little "pitch" to them and after a little bit of time to think about it, they agreed. I will not devulge the agreement that we came upon but it was worth it.

It must be like my sponsorship.
I spend all my money there and they give me a T-Shirt to ware with their name on it.

Yeah, I wear their t-shirt and fly their banner. That's the least I can do. But lots of free stuff for me other than the t-shirt as well as other things. Coffee is good at the store ;)

I'm not trying to make lite of getting a sponsorship.
One thing you have to remember, If someone is giving you money from their pocket they expect something in return.

A consistent record of great sportsmanship and lap times is what most are looking for. The last thing they want is to have a a hothead that brakes down all the time flying their flag. In order to have a chance of sponsorship you will need to be the friendliest guy around and place more times then not. Even then, your lucky to get a t-shirt.

If you want to race, then race. Let people recognize you then start to talk. You need to remember the LHS does this for profit. There are exceptions but it all boils down to what you can do for them, not what they can do for you.

I'm not trying to be mean just giving you honest criticism, check spelling. There was a recent article in one of the mags about scouting for and landing a sponsor and one of the things mentioned was to make sure you don't come off like a boob with grammatical errors in your letters to potential sponsors. Again I not knocking your spelling, I'm not a spelling bee champion myself, I'm just offering up some advice. Good luck in your quest for sponsorship, but most of all just enjoy racing.

DOH! I'm sure butters knows how to spell sponsorship (GT forum :argue: LOL)

everything here so far is great info! also, if your sending soemthing to a more major sponsor, make sure to send actualy mail to them becuase from what I've heard the majority of them delete e-mails pertaining to sponsorship.

from some1 that was sponsored a long time ago. sponsorship makes the notion of racing work, instead of fun. yes competition is good, but now u have make it work instead of goin 2 have fun. recipe 4 acclerated burnout.

dont look 4 it w/the idea of gettin deals, b/c u'll spend far more on the 'hobby' (use that term loosely) by b'g sponsored than u would have when it was just fun.
