I was warming my car up today before i tried messing with the LSN and the HSN. Everything was cool and then I noticed I could whip the rear end around really easily and do dougnuts like nothing. I knew my driveshaft was not working properly and then "clink, clank, clank" it fell outta the side. No big deal. Picked it up and even found the collar to it too!
Now here is where it gets crazy.
I turned it off by covering the air filter as soon as the shaft fell out of the car completely. I was trying to get it started again and it would start, rev real high, then die. So i feathered the throttle and got it to start, but it would rev like crazy and kept trying to drive off my table!
Then i tried to start it again and heard the strangest noise. It sounded like a "pink" and then i saw the flywheel spinning freely as if not connected to the engine at all! I was able to turn the flywheel freely without any resistance. I tried the pull start again and then it was back to normal, like it popped back into place. I pull again and the flywheel spun without turning the motor over. I then gave up and ran straight to my computer knowing you guys could help me.
WHAT HAPPENED!??!?!

Here is a vid of what is going on.
The noise you hear is NOT the engine trying to turn over.
Its simply me trying to hold a camera, lift up the car, and spin the flywheel in one graceful motion.
Hope someone recognizes this and has a solution!!!

Did your glow plug come loose? If you turn the flywheel by hand, do you feel the compression stroke?
When you slowly pull the starter, do you feel a pop, pop, pop of the compression strokes or does it spin freely?

Just went out to check it. The glow plug did not come loose. It was on there good and tight. NOW when i turn the flywheel by hand i CAN feel the compression stroke of the engine. When i pull the starter it feels fine....
Did something fix itself?
Or is it just something loose and about to explode? lol

I'd pull the engine and make sure that the flywheel is pressed against the collet good and tight. If you can pull the pull start and here a "pop-pop-pop" as the piston goes through the compression stroke you're probably alright. If not, you may have snapped the con rod.

That was my next suggestion, to open it up and have a look around.

We need you to clear up the noise. Was it pink or plink, ker-plink or ping? Clack or clang, thud or bang is never good.

if were gonna get that technical rolex..
was it a little plink or a big plink?

I would pull the mill out and pull it apart, if nothing is wrong at least its a good time to clean it!

I was kinda confused myself. shh, dont tell anybody, i dont want to be considered on par with you...:p:

like everybody else said pull the motor and check it out and find the problem chances ar is the the nut that hold the flywheel to the crank has came loose

Flywheel vid #2

Ok. So I went back out there and gave it a few tugs. Seemed fine. I got ready to start it, primed it, put my finger oved the exhaust and tugged and i heared the whizzing noise again. I had compression in the engine, and it felt like those toys cars that you pull the rip cord through and they go zooming off. When i pulled the cord i could feel and hear compression coming from the exhaust. And then when i stopped pulling i continued to hear the flywheel spinning around by itself. Hopefully this video can better explain it.

(if you turn up your volume, you can really hear the flywheel spinning)

dont try and start it! whatever is wrong might end up causing alot more damage than what there already is!! pull out your engine and pull it apart to make sure everything is fine! check you flywheel to make sure its screwed on right! check you clutch shoes! check everything on the assembly that goes from pull start to end bell!

its the flywheel, i could see it spinning, also i had the same problem before and thats wat i was

Wow. You guys are awesome!!!! Pulled the motor today after work since it was only 4 more screws after taking off the carbon fiber top plate. (I had to take that off to put in the driveshaft that fell out last night anyway) lol. The flywheel was loose and the flywheel nut was tightened up real good to the gears. I separated those pieces, put it all back together and it sounded ok when i tugged the pull start. Went outside and finished running the fuel from yesterday through it.
That is what I call some team work!
-Just got 3 clear bodies in today. Hopefully i can find a how-to in this forum on how to paint them and what the heck to do with what I'm guessing is a spoiler.
Thank you again guys!
