I have a brand new 3.3. It's been properly broken in and enjoyed for a few days. Today, something weird. When the throttle is put on, the front tires spin like a front wheel drive hole shot. They look like they are going twice the speed as the rears out of the hole. Something I need to adjust?

check your rear drive axles and wheel hexs, if they are all good it may be the rear diff.
 
Hold the front tires off the ground and throttle it. Is the rear pulling strong? Probably not. Time to check the drive train. Start from the wheel hexes and pins and work your way in.

I don't even know what a wheel hex and pin is!!! Never mind working my way in.
Shouldn't this be covered under warranty?

My son is sick so it will have to wait until tomorrow.
Should it start on after run oil??
I drained the tank, started it up.It ran for a sec then died.Tried again, nothing.Pulled of the air filter assembly.Put a half dozen drops of after run in. Put the starter to it and it fired up and ran for at least a minute! It was smoking quite a bit. I tried 3 more times to start it. Nothing.Put more after run in and it fired right up!!
 
drain the tank than start it up one last time to get the fuel in the engine out than put after run oil in, pull the cord WITHOUT the glow igniter on!! for a few times. than leave it at the bottom of the stoke and your good
 
i would have to advise you to learn all componets and their function, you can learn alot and if your gonna stay in this hobby your gonna need all the info you can aquire. having a nitro mt is alot of work for play. and maintance/repair is something that is going to take alot of time and patience, mainly because its a necesity to run these trucks. everytime i run i spend a good 30min working on my trucks, thats if everything goes fine! you can spend alot more time wrenching if you break. but somethings gonna break on offroads especially the way i drive mine, thats when i usually call it a day. even if you just run around the yard and up and down the street your gonna break stuff. you really need to understand how much work is involved in keeping up offroad nitros.

couldnt have said that better myself. i havent broken anything major yet but I'm sure i will. and ill be ready for it!
 
well nitronewb does know his way around a nitro pretty good for a noob. He already had a problem and had to rebuild his entire off road buggy, bought a new engine and installed everything himself and did a good job, but they just got the Revo a few days ago. You're corerct about needing to know your way around the truck. I just wanted it to be known that he has really been working hard and putting a ton of time into learning about the buggy they had and working on it, as well as keeping it in mint condition.

i definetly know that. I've read all nitronoobs posts from when he first started it. it just takes time to get used to a new truck i have all the confidence in the world that he will know that revo inside and out in no time at all. good luck with solving that problem.

it took some time for me to play around with my revo to even try to attempt to put in my FOC. and i did it with out any major problems. and i know if i did run into a problem i could always come here and ask a question and get it answered in a reasonable amount of time and get right back to work!
 
Man it's so nice to be able to dive into something and know that if you have problems, there will be someone on here to help. It definitely helps the confidence of someone like me!

Thanks for the good word Charlie. And your right. I have a LOT to learn. That's why I'm on here asking questions. I've come a LOOOOOONG way in the last few months on understanding rc's and I've got a long way to go with this Revo and whatever the next one may be. As long as you guy's are here to help, I think I'm good.
Like this after run thing. It didn't happen with my other car because it has a pull start. The Revo has the electric which fires up the glo plug as it's turning it. It never dawned on me. Thanks to RCNitro talk, I've learned yet another piece of information.
Now I need to learn about wheel hexes and pins (lol).And then teach my son.
My parts came in for my other car yesterday so I think I'll be spending my time putting that back together.
My son's sick with the flu I think so it seems the Revo can wait a bit.
I'll talk to my LHS where I bought it tomorrow and run it by them.

I think it's a great idea to take it to them. Make sure it's all cleaned up so it doesn't look like your son has been putting it through hell on his home track. I'm not saying to lie to them, but it always helps when it looks like you've taken care of it, which I know you have because of the way your teaching your son to take care of it after each run.
 
He drove it on it's roof more than once already but it gets a complete cleaning before it's put away so that's not a concern.
The LHS (rc madness) here in CT is really great.Very helpful staff.
They just opened their track for racing today.
 
Sweet, our just got started as well. Man if your son takes to racing, there goes all your worries in the teenage years. I don't see how someone could live the RC lifestyle to the full and find time to get drunk and make trouble. If you think worrying about the time he spends or money he spends on RC is bad, trust me its WAY better than not knowing where he is 3 hours past curfew, on a Tuesday lol

oh how much better off I'd been if I woulda been racing instead of ... well lets just leave it at that
 
Scratches on the roof are mandatory. Just keep it nice and clean (like I do)
You're right to take it in since you just got it. Many shops will take care of you on their own if it's something simple, or at least they'll let you know what it needs.
Whatever you do, don't drive it as long as your son is sick, but tell him you'll wait to run it when he's up and around again.

I won't run it but I will scrub the tires...(lol). He thinks they look good with dirt on them. Can you imagine Rolex??Maybe that's why it broke. Everything runs better when it's clean!!
Funny...my honey-do list doesn't have any of this rc stuff on it. Must have been an oversight.

i second that.
once i have kids there going to be getting RCs ASAP to keep them out of trouble! lol. i dont see how anyone can not find this fun. well except for my girlfriend, but she just hates when i buy new parts and spend all day putting them on.
but its definetly something i wish i could have afforded when i was little
