Spell Check

The sad part is that it's not only our kids that are talking/writing like this. There are bunches of "college educated" people out there doing the same thing. If they're doing it, think what THEIR kids are going to be like.

Remember that commercial for a cell phone company where all the people in the family use chat speak except for the mother? Even the little old grandma is like "I'm txting my bff Rose!!!1ONEUNO"

In 50 years that's what some people will be doing in the lower classes of society while the others are shaking their heads and laughing.

I try to keep my grammar and spelling good on the forums I visit but if you ever see me on an I'm program I just type fast. Having said that though, it would take me longer to translate to txt speak than just writing my words. I just don't capitalize or puncuate most of the time. Just get the idea out of my head you know?

C'mon Monkey Wrench. Open up. Don't be shy. Both my boys have phones but I called Verizon and stopped all services on them except for them to make and receive calls. No text, no internet, no on line gaming. When I was like 13 I can remember saying "what the truck" in front of my parents when I was mad and then arguing that I wasn't swearing because I said Truck. That was the last and only time. My dad made it quite clear that that talk would NOT be allowed in HIS house! Back in the 50's and 60's dad ruled.
I was/am a working Mr Mom. I raised both boy's from 8 weeks. I didn't and don't put up with much crap. But they keep testing.

It often takes me longer to decipher the text talk, than to read normal language. If I can't figure it out on the first read, I just move on to another post. A lot of members will do the same, and the person posting often loses out.

Do you have speelchuck?

Funny enough, that spelling of "garentee" actually passed my Firefox spell checker. So :p: right back atcha! (haha):spit:

edit; and Monkey; Amen. Well said my friend.

I try to look over my posts before I hit "submit." There is a "preview post" button at the bottom. I try to do that.
Sometimes I may look it over 3 or 4 times.
Still others blame schools and teachers. Only time I will hold a school or teacher responsible is when they do not correct it! I have heard of teachers accepting chat-speak being used in term papers, ARE YOU FLIPPIN' KIDDING ME? That teacher, were I principal, would be out on their arse!

If you are reading this and are one of these folks that live by chat-speak and feel no need to practice basic English when posting on this forum, understand I have made it my personal mission to either get you good or GET YOU OUT! I will ride you mercilessly until you either drop the chat-speak or just drop out. There are other forums for you to prove what an assclown you are, go find them and stay there!
You go Monkey!!
An occasional WTF of LMAO, but don't push it.

If a post is hard to read, I'll go to a different (sp?) one.

Just take a little extra time with what you are posting.
