been looking around for a new transmitter because the traxxas one is a pos. came across one of these the other day.Spektrum DX3 DSM... I was just wondering what everybody thought about them and are they any good?
and is it a straight swap for the original gear.

I have heard good things about it. Yes you can use your current servos. You will need to swap out hte other radio gear with what comes with the radio (receiver).

go over to the Traxxass Revo forum and you will see several topics on this.

It's an "OK" radio. I bought one just for the DSM aspect of it. It has all the basic needs of a basher. What I don't like about it is the lack of adjustments as far as exponential settings. I never really needed it till I put in a hot engine in my car and exponential settings could have helped me out with the extreme snappiness of the engine. I just had to relearn and adapt to the needed throttle control in and out of corners.

If I had the chance and cash up front, I'd get the Helios EX10 and the dsm module for it. That's why I'm not getting rid of my JR XS3. BTW, the DSR is the JR XR3i rebadged. Even the servos are JR servos with Spektrum tags.

If you plan on getting this radio, just swap out the receiver and you're ready to go, unless you want to use the servos taht came with it (Z590 metal gear and Z270 stock plastic servo).

i do like the look of it to. i think I'm gonna have to wrestle the credit card from her kung fu grip

Check with RevoRancher, he has one for his Revo. I'm debating on getting one or just waiting it out and getting something else with DSM module. Right now I use a Fut 3PM

I would wait on getting one because I have heard through the grapevine they are coming out with a model that has telemetry built in. Most likely this means it will be based on a better radio, too. Due date is very early 2006.

The current model needs more adjustments. Other than that it is a good deal for the price.

From what the company says, the telemetry unit will also be an "add-on" feature for their current units as well. Not needed for me bu can prove to be useful with others that buy it.

I've seen adds for the sensor that is on the spektrum system and telemetry it looks sweet! but...i dont think i wanna drop 600 into a controller lol

That much huh? I'm just "satisfied" with their controller now. I'll probably get rid of it and scale up to the EX10 with their module. The basic radio is just that, BASIC. Only reason I bought it was for the DSM factor.

Diver, from my source, the new radio will be based upon a different radio, so I would imagine it is probably on a higher end Futaba radio. All features will be built in, not an add-on, as far as the new radio. From your post I take it you heard that they will offer add-on parts for you guys with the modules already?

The new radio is most likely to be sold as a Tx/Rx package, but no other pieces, in order to keep the cost down. It will be under 500. Right now it is in real world testing with a few special drivers. I would think if they are putting that much effort into real world testing that it must have a host of good features, and adjustability. From what i have heard, the telemetry is limited to 4 seperate readings, but that it has an incredible amount of memory so you can recall data from all different points int ime, etc.

Its not 600 its 500. And its not the same company that you guys are talking about. The sensor is made by Nomadio. It looks funny as hell (not like the JR radio) It has the tememetry built into it and there will be more upgrades available shortly!

this is the nomadio.

Hey, VB, Spektrum is due to have theirs out too. The Nomadio had it's production delayed due to a few glitches that they discussed at RCX. The two systems will be competitors.

That Nomadio is a goofy looking thing!

Ah ha. I haven't heard of the spektrum version. I'll have to do some research. Thanks for the info!
