I'm currently running a 20 tooth clutch bell with a 54 tooth spur. I'm running a newly broken in 2.5r. What's the best gear ratio for this so I can get the best possible top end? also, someone explain to me please how this works. If you have more teeth on the spur is that faster or slower? I don't quite know much about this yet. Hook me up with some FAST gear ratio combos.....thanx......Kev

Go to the tune-up sticky at the top of the nitro forum. There's a gear ratio chart as well as the mathematical formula to determine what you need.

Bigger bell/smaller spur= more top end. smaller bell/bigger spur= more bottom end. Anything over stock on a 2.5 will probably lead to less top and bottom end. 2.5's don't have enough power to pull tall gears. The only reason I can think of to go with a higher gear combo on a 2.5 equipped vehicle is to compensate for much smaller tires. My 2.5 Maxx with 3.2 Talons wouldn't hardly pull itself down the street. Not to mention how hot it got. 20t bell works alright, but an 18t is the only way to get any torque out of it.
