First off....I'm a noob at the r/c scene ....old age and broken bones stopped 20 years of racing motocross....I purchased a couple of the original RC10's at a yard sale and while the old buggies run I want to get them a little more up to speed for my 2 young boys so they can learn to drive a little b4 I upgrade them to new buggies. they both have LeMans 240 motors and the original speed controls. I have a nitro stadium truck and am clueless when it comes to choosing an ESC and motor combo for them to start out on. What bearing is the ESC type and motor size in conjuction with each other? I mean do certain speed controls run certain motor ranges when it comes to turns and winds? I would hate to ruin either a new motor or new ESC because of simple ingnorance. I can make any normally aspirated engine sing but I don't quiet know what to look for when matching the 2. What all do I need to know ?

Any help is appreciated

Thanks for an awesome place to learn more about a great way to STILL kick it in the dirt!

Those LeMans 240 motors were a popular choice for Modified classes years ago. Kyosho called them 240's because they were designed for 240 seconds of runtime.

Considering what shape these motors must be in and just years of tech, todays stock motors will be faster and provide more run time. You could also look into Trinity 19 turn motors for an inbetween choice of speed and run time.

ESC's range from how wild of a motor you are looking to run. Staying somewhat mild on the motor, like the two choices above, you could run just about anything you choose. Since your kids would be using them, a reversing ESC would prolly be best. Novak and LRP are the two better companies in the ESC market now.
