hello all! I was rummaging through my extra parts bin when i decided to put them all together and what do you know?! lol an 80% complete chassis emerged! I figured id give this one to my girl when its completed. I've picked up a few things on eBay already but I'm looking to build this for the absolute cheapest possible and still have a decent rig she can run this summer when I'm out bashing the heavy weight.:)

I am going to keep a running tally on total cost of this build. Heres the list so far, if possible I'm trying to buy only brand new parts....we'll see how long that lasts lol

-Decided to pick up a new 2.5 chassis due to the .15 pictured is damaged from a nasty wreck years back- 6 bucks
-set of four steering knuckles with bearings and pivot balls 10 bucks
-3.3 steering assembly 5 bucks
-Front and Rear assembled 3.3 differentials- 16 bucks

That's all that's in the budget for this week so ill keep updating and putting up new pics as i assemble whatever arrives first.

Any comments or suggestions would be appreciated!

I do have 1 question that if someone knows would be great. Are the input shafts on the 3.3 diffs compatible to the 2.5 transmissions or will i have to drop a 3.3 trans in this truck now? Thanks for any input!

The 3.3 stuff utilizes a 6mm shaft, but you can chop shop center shafts together no prob, let me know if you need some budget servos man ill hook you up

transmited from a mobile communications device

All TMaxx diff inputs are 6mm diameter. As long as you use the 2.5 center shafts with the 2.5 tranny you will be good.

I'm rather annoyed...for some reason the site isn't letting me upload any photos like in the op. i can most likely put links to photo-bucket but I'd rather have photos on the thread. Has anyone else had this problem recently?

Yes I have.

I just built my little girl a wide wheel base truck. My friend gave me about $100.00 worth of things. I still got $200.00 in it. Just now completed.

I did have to make a slight mod on the old school .15 drive shafts to fit them onto the 3.3 diffs do to the holes for the pins not lining up properly. short work with the dremel...not pretty but you can't see it anyway...

last but not least picked up some emaxx front and rear bumpers cuz that black chrome just spoke to me:) 7 bucks

I love spare parts...:)
BTW, the toe links mount on the underside of the axle carrier arm. If mounted on top you will experience major bump steer.

Wow! Snook you hit that right on the head! Took it for a test run yesterday evening and the truck was totally undrivable due to radical steering problems and I've been banging my head trying to figure out why! Now i know what I'm doing when i get home:)

Been there done that!!!
It will drive you crazy if you don’t know what to look for.

Dude it really was driving me nuts! I just sat there starring at it saying why in the world is this happening!? lol I had gotten so used to my other truck which has the 3.3 steering setup with 3.3 knuckles up front. Installing the tie rods wrong is almost impossible with that setup and true track on the rear....its kinda crazy how one little over site made the whole truck a big paperweight!

Needless to say once I switched all four tie rods and realigned everything it drove perfectly so thanks again!

On a side note I also ditched the 2.5 mounted up in the pics for my old O.S. .15 CV and its REALLY old! id say at least 15 years... runs great for having sat in my old stampede for a decade with fuel in it....yea I know....either way does anyone know if they even still have a piston and sleeve available anywhere? i think its been long discontinued which is a shame as its a fantastic mill...not really sure on the exact model but it has a blue anodized block and a gold cooling head if that helps...
