Hey fellas, new in RC world. Starting with the 1/18 crawlers, trx4m. I bought a couple of sound modules via temu and of course it’s not plug and play. I was hoping to get some knowledge from people here. When I connect the only plug from the speaker that would connect to the ecm I get a nice idling sound but that’s it. For fun I connected the speaker wires through the steering servo, now the idle is gone but when I steer the speaker revs up and down, sounds nice! Maybe it’s not possible with a trx4m? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!!!

My name is Eddie

Hey Eddie, welcome to RCT.

1/18th is a great place to start!

It looks like that is designed to be used with a regular ESC (electric speed controller) and a receiver.

The TRX4-M uses a combination unit so there is no way to interrupt the throttle signal.

What you noticed is when you plugged it into the servo channel (Channel 1), it picked up the outputs from the steering as throttle outputs.

There is a way to do it all and I'll link the parts.

Here's an example of a replacement electronics setup that would allow you to use the speaker.

You would interrupt the Yellow/Black/Black harness with your speaker Y cable, then the MALE end from the speaker would plug into Channel 2/TH/Throttle.

It may look intimidating but it is all pretty much plug and play and allow you to use the factory battery.

There are also ESC's that retain the brushed setup you have but I am not familiar with them.
You would also have to spec a transmitter/receiver combo to pair with it.

The brushless upgrade would really transform the rig. Their app for the ESC is quite nice as well.

If you haven't already, best upgrade you can get is a nice 1.5mm driver to help with working on the truck.

Good luck and if you pursue a build with it don't hesitate to start a thread :)
