something is wrong with my needle settings. my t-maxx is only about a month old, with about maybe one gallon of fuel through it. the problem I'm having is it doesn't want to idle, and hard to get restared if it dies.when i do a high speed run, right before it shifts into 2nd it hesitates just for a second then it takes off. from a dead stop it doesn't have the snap that it used to. my high speed needle is never turned to far from factory setting, my low speed needle is set flush. now I'm having trouble with the idle speed needle. i cannot get these two in sync with one another. can someone tell me how many turns out the idle speed needle needs to be, because I've lost track of where it needs to be. one other thing, if i move either one of these needles it throws everyting out of whack, even if i adjust ever so slightly. need some help....

What temp is your engine running at. also their should be a 1-1.5 mm gap in the carb throat when the breaks are aplied it is about the width of a credit card. also when you adjust the needles it should be HSN then LSN.
look here to tuneTHIS

and you could have adirty carb go

If it lacks punch off the line, you need to lean the LSN. This will usually up your idle also, so you might have to adjust that too.
When you adjust the idle screw, keep twitching the trigger so it can 'accept' the changes.

rolex and tarant are probably right, but you might want to start at factory settings and go from there, i don't know what they are, so refer to your manual.

factory settings are
HSN 4 turns out
LSN flush with inner collar
and a 1-1.5 mm gap in the carb throat

i an os cv-x engine and this (too rich LSN) was my problem it would idle fine when it was hot but not cold when I leaned it out a bit, it would start better when hot and idle better too

well I've tried what you all suggested. nothings helping. i went ahead and took it to my lhs today. i told them exactly what it was doing. so their gonna keep it for a couple of days. hopefully they can figure it out. man this really blows another nice day out and still can't play. revo is down with a broken a-arm (which is on order) t-maxx wont run right. boy i have the greatest luck of all lol

Have you ever checked for air leaks? That can be hell on tuning.

i was begining to think that, after i took it up there, my lhs is closed now, I'm gonna call tomarrow and have them check that to... i hope they can figure it out

i have been reading some of the traxxas forums and honestly there is a poop load of ppl having the same problems ,and some of them have tuned the hsn out as far as 5 turns ,,thinking to my self,,what are they thinking ,,
if nothing else call traxxas and ask for alan the customer service manager ,
he was tons of help to me today
just my :2cents:

yeah, same here, I've been reading a lot about this problem. wow 5 turns, i know i never turned mine that far out. i know one thing, everyone on here has been a big help, thanks to everyone....... as soon as i get this problem fixed ill let you all know how it came out.

I've had my HSN out as far a 5 - 5 1/2 turns, but that was on a very very cold day (around 30 degrees). When I've run it on the 50 degree days I'm closer to the 4 turns.
