ok i run my savage .21 for about 3 min or less and it stalls on me and the fuel pressure in the line drops and it takes about 7 min to start it back up again why?!?!?!. i only fill my gas up to the half tank mark too. i installed a new head, and exhaust pipe so i dont know if this will help you guys

pissant did you retune your carb?? If you had left the carb with the same settings you will definitely need to re-tune. Also double check the tightness of the cooling head and make sure those bad boys are friggin tight. Ok other than that it would sound like you might have some sort of air leak. Are you still using the primer type tank???

The first thing that comes to mind is, what is the temerature at the plug when it dies? If it's getting hot (250+), then that's why it's a pain to restart. If it's still cold (200-), then there's a fuel flow problem. Changing the head might affect the temps some, but it's more likely that changing the pipe would affect the fuel flow more. Does the engine act like it's getting too much fuel, but not enought to flood it? One trick that works for me is to stand the Savage on it's tail to start it if it's acting like it's flooding. When you do this, the fuel tends to drain out of the crank case, into the cylinder and out the exhaust port, and then starts up. be careful not to vapor lock it though.

A couple of other thoughts. Do you use an inline fue filter? crap tends to clog the HSN is you don't, and that might be one source of problems. How much time is on the glow plug? If it's getting old, it won't run right. And is the air filter clean and lubed?

so i have too retune it again and yes iam using a primer tank. my car does bog down before it stalls does that mean iam flooding the engine?

also i dont have a filter, should i get one?

The bog-and-die thing sounds like it's running rich (most likely both top and low end). Yes, I'd retune it if you changed the pressure curve.

Yes, get a filter. Believe it or not, there's alot of crap floating around in the fuel, and this will get sucked up and end up lodging in the HSN housing. This will in turn lean the engine out.

So, if you try to retune it and can't get it dialed in, you may have to take the HSN out and flush the housing (by blowing in the pressure line or using the primer pump). Then reset the HSN and start tuning it again. Avoid this in the future by installing a filter.
