hey guys, i just got my savage bout a week ago, and got a couple of questions. how can you tell if the glow plug is bad? adn i fogot the other question bu ill ask later thank
vince

well u can take the glow plug out and use the ingniter to ignite and see how well it glows during break in u use alot of glow plugs

Well the rings should be perfectly circular and should extend to the edge of the glowplug and the end of the wire should touch the shell of the glow plug itself. If you have a good glo igniter it will tell you if the glow plug is foul (the guage) Also, it should be bright enough so you can tell if its good. Charging your igniter would also help. The stock savage glo plug isnt that good I would go pick up some McCoy's or O.S. glow plugs. If you are breaking it in, be sure to run the truck rich, so broken glow plugs should happen. Its all for the sake of the engine.

You can tell if the glow plug is bad that no matter how many times you change the batteries in your glow igniter and no matter how many blisters you have on your hand if it does not start you might have a bad glow plug.

Hey, I actually changed 2 glow plugs this weekend.

ooh ya and another question was i aint eally seein a lot of smoke out of the exhaust pipe, is that normal?? what should i do?? adn one more, how do you take off the coolin head of the engine cause i need to clean up in there. :no_commen
vince

and I'm bored right now so imma go drive my savage!:w00t:

theyr are set screws inside of the cooling where your spark plug is and there are four and you will need an alan wrench and for smoke you could richen it a lil bit ro make u happy look in my gallery for pics of where the screws are
