I always thought that only intelligent people can have hobbies. You know...the kind of people who think of more than just money, pu**y, food and sleep. The kind of people who think on a higher level.
So what are your opinions on the guys that ask us to grow up or move on? I mean...hell...I'm as tall as I'm gonna get, but still, wherever I'd move on with my life, my cars will come with me.

I think that our hobby is a healthy outlet and people that think negatively are naive since they probably never even experienced this hobby and if they did they probably had a bad experience with it. For me this is a natural extension for my love for 1:1 cars and I'm sure this will be true for a lot of folks in here. I also think there is nothing wrong with keeping some of our fondest memories when we were younger and carrying it through our adult lives. This hobby was part of my youth and if staying in this hobby reminds me of that how can that be a negative thing. As long as it does not become an obsession where it take over your life meaning you don't eat, don't have time for your family any longer, you spend your money on your hobby and don't pay your bills and financial responsibilities any longer then it's all good.

Hobby is a hobby. doesn't matter to me what it is if its not hurting someone. Hobby grade RC's are in my opinion more of an adult thing anyways. People fish, play ball sports, ride bicycles, motorcycles, play video games and so on all as kids but also as adults, its no different. Plus as an adult you end up being better and appreciating the hobby all the more. I've been told TONS of times to grow up and get out of car audio as a hobby, but until they can physically try and stop me which will take a good amount of effort on their part, its none of their business, I hurt no one doing it and also bump it away from neighborhoods so no body gets bothered by it, so they can get bent.

Just curious, who is it that decided to pass on this 'grow up and move on' wisdom upon you? Is this from a neighbor with a grudge or someone at a park somewhere? What scenario led up to this?

It was actually just a comment on YouTube.
Well, to be honest there was a shitload of comments on YouTube. Each RC-related video has a bunch of 'em.
Don't know what fueled their hate. Maybe their salary doesn't surpass their wisdom. Maybe they're just narrow-minded. I don't know why I gave a single damn on an internet bin man's opinion in the first place.

Edit: overused the word "honest" lol

In that case, I always recommend "CONSIDER THE SOURCE!!!" There are PLENTY of you tube users who post simply to get a rise out of the poster of the vids. I see it all the time. Take it with a grain of salt and move on. I wouldn't even give them the satisfaction of a response! Let them go back to putting chrome skull stickers to their skateboards or whatever they do when they aren't annoying people who enjoy their hobbies enough to share vids with those who can actually appreciate them!

It's good to hear kind words about RC from time to time. After all, a hobby makes people effective in their day-to-day activities, right? :)

It takes all kinds to make the world go 'round. I am FAR from claiming to have all the answers, thats for sure! I can say for sure that short of a couple quick runs here and there, I missed the whole summer running season due to personal commitments and dealing with my own 1:1 issues. With that in mind, I know it would have been a better summer of I had taken more time (had more money) to enjoy the hobby myself. So would i have been more effective day to day? Maybe. Would it have made me happier? Most likely yes!!! ;)

I know a guy who is 51 years old, has a full time job, wife and kids, pets, a HUGE rc collection as well as other collections like comics and action figures. That shows any age can be into any hobby.....Sorry for throwing you under the old age bus @robmob :p

Slow green. It's good to see a RC and car audio enthusiast like me on this forum. I have not retired nor do I have any plans to retire from my car audio addiction. I did some work on my wife's Infinit FX35 a few years ago and I'm in the process of redoing it eventually since it was just a temporary system that I just haven't gotten around to finishing up. Here's a pic of the reworked rear cargo area and a pic of the Alpine processor mounted on the OEM ashtray location.

It took me about 5 days to do re everything including all the fiberglass work. The fiberglass sub box took 3 days because of the intricate shape.

Maybe because I am starting to get up there in years (somewhat. :hehe: :rolex:) I never really put age into the equation. I can't really see a teenage kid telling me to grow up either tho. I have an uncle who is very much into gaming... Should he 'grow up' too? I say 'to each his own'.
