Well, it's no snowmobile but it's pretty cool to see four white rooster tails commin' off the Big Joe's. I just ran my 25 in about three inches of snow but it only lasted a few minutes before the snow completely packed into every nook and cranny (cranny?) and finally covered up the air filter choking out the engine. I've seen video of someone putting ski's on the front of their truck and running it in the snow, but I'm not sure what kind of truck it was. I'm don't know if the Savage is a good truck to try this with because of the TVP open frame design. It almost seems like you would have to wrap the thing in some kind of a body condom to keep the packed snow from clogging everything up including the steering and the shocks. I'll probably search for a better air filter and give it another shot. Any suggestions?

sounds ike you had fun. do yo have the stock air filter? if you do you should upgrade to a high performance air filter. thats wat i did an it helped a lot. but if you can give us some pics! everyone likes t see pictures.

Yea get a high performance air filter, it'll give you more snow time, but they will all get covered with snow and choke out at some point, maybe try a rain/mud deflector, I saw them at the LHS, but didn't think much of them at the time, or maybe try to fabricate one yourself with an old pop bottle, maybe to only draw air from around the lower end of the filter where it isn't so exposed to flying white rooster tails.....what I mean is something that would "cup" around the top end of the filter like a shield............

that would be cool. i think someone here is tryin it out. ooh ya i thin ramtech is tryin it out. but I'm not sure. but since trdstreetfighter is always tryin stuff out, he shoud try this one out too hehe:ha:

Hi, I am also from MI and had about 2 inches of snow Thu/Fri. My buddy (who has a T-Maxx) and I liked running our trucks in the snow, and we ran ours again. Just make sure not to take yours in too deep a snow, suggest no more than 3 inches of snow. Once you see the tires spinning too fast, ease up on the gas you might fry your clutch.

Now for the tip in snow proofing your Savage:

1) Get an HPI high performance air filter, I forget what the part no. it was, but it's the one with foam/plastic/foam. It is bulky but it's perfect coz it gets tucked under the body and not exposed to the snow/dirt.
2) I use duck tape all over my receiver/electronic box, especially where the antenna goes into the box.
3) Make sure you have a powerful air compressor to clean up immediately after a day of bashing. I usually open up the receiver box with all the electronics in it and use hair dryer to make sure not no water and humidity sits in there for more than 1 day.

You'll have so much fun with your Savage --- let me know how it goes.

MMMmmmm. winter time, I can't wait to run my Savage in the snow, unfortunatelly it's still in the spanish customs and they will not despatch it untill the 29th. I've bought sandpaddle tires I hope they will work, my idea is to run the car in the snow board course early in the morning when the snow is still hard and there aren't many snowboarders. but this will be the 16th of genuary, I'll have to wait untill then:sneaky:

Well, I just ordered a new heavy duty air filter. I think I'll also try making some kind of a deflector just for extra measure. The lightfoot thing is very cool! I saw those a few years ago but they were on a full size pick-up. I didn't know they made them for ATV's also. I would defenetly buy a set of those if they had them for the Savage. Maybe ski's on the front for easier turning, kind of like a half track.

Kazi, good luck, nice to hear from someone from Spain! The sand paddle tires is probably the way to go. I'll look into a set myself after I test the new air filter. Too bad about customs. Leave it to a government to spoil someones fun!!

they make skies you could try (theyre made for MAXX'S) but I'm sure you could gte them to fit a savage some howSNOW SKIS

That is soooo cool. That thing looked and went like a mini snowmobile. I wonder if any hop up outfit makes these for the Savage.

that thing for the tmaxx is sick! they should make those forthe savge. i would use them for the dirt since i dont live near snow. haha dont know if it will work.
