looking good bud, but I think it would look a little better with a more scale tire, the tires you have look like crawler tires, RC4WD has some killer scale looking tread patterns. But other than that I really like it!
 
oh i agree for sure Joe, these are the Crazy Crawlers from rc4wd, i just got them and the wheels for a great price so they are on there for now...

well i kinda feel bad about this one guys, i picked up a set of flat irons for it, changed the tie rod to a traxxas and ran it outside for a few minutes but i left my camera at a buddies house and never got picks before i parted her out....but atleast you got to see that basically finished product...the body is available if anyone is interested pm me.
 
where do you find bodies like that? i may do a scaler when i sell the e-maxx.
 
Most of them are toy rc bodies, usualy newbright You can get them at wally world, toys r us, just about any toy store.Most guys that build scalers just trash the rest of the rc using only the body. Tamiya also has some nice hard bodies, the clod body is basically an early 80s chevy, they also have the f-350, tundra, hilux, and Jeep YJ.

yeah exactly, its fun trashing the rc that comes with the body lol....and imo a harbody is the only way to go for a scaler. lexan's are cool on a scaler if its something very rare that you dont see a million of but thats about it.....

WTF!!!!!, you just put it together and now its all parted out. Well at least you drove it, unlike some one we all know, LOL!!! or at least that's what you telling us, but with out video proof I don't know.... JK:D:p::hehe:
 
lol, you know me well enuff to know it got driving HARD for a little while atleast lol....yeah i sold the tires to a buddy and acouple other parts to start my new scaler, this one was just a real fast build since i had the body and wanted to see what it would turn out like on 1.9's, pretty good in my opinion.
oh and thanks chelsea, not too many hours on this one, maybe 4 or 5 hours total build time i guess....
 
4-5 hours isnt to bad. I would love to get a shell like that for my XTM X-cellerator but i can't because it wouldnt fit :( otherwise i would try and make it look like its a 1:1 like yours.
 
well making a scaler, a true scaler, takes alot of work, you need a scale chassis to start off with then just go from there....i see SO many guys just get a crawler and slap a "scale" lid on it and call it good but that isnt a scaler imo...

Whats cool about scalers is that you can build a great deal of it yourself with a few basic tools. You can make your own chassis from any number of materials, or start with something like an xtrail, they are only $24. Pick up a body from any old wally world rc, you can find them at flea markets and yard sales too, 1.9 rims are cheap, hpi stockers are like $12 for four and then pick up some 1.9 tires. The most expensive part will be the axles and tranny. Integy motors are only around $15, and you dont need a high dollar esc for a scaler either. You can build one without dropping a ton of cash, or you can do like some guys and just buy the best parts and bolt it all together, then it will get expensive.
