Note sure what the cause of this is so I hope someone has experienced this before. While just doing some general bashing the other day, I noticed that in first gear it seemed very sluggish then when it finally kicked into second, it would just take off. Now, I had not cleaned the air filter since last time I ran it and it looked kinda dirty and maybe the lsn was kinda rich. I am hoping this is not a bad tranny issue. Also, I had decided to check the backplate yesterday and it was leaking some so I will seal that. Any ideas?

like you said, your lsn was a little to rich. try and lean it out. that should help.

yeah it's a tuning thing. i had it too when i drove my truck with my new picco in it, it didn't even hit second.

Sounds like a tuning issue, but you said your backplate was leaking and that could be the culpret (sp?) An airleak can reak havoc while trying to tune an engine!

it could be that ur the nut for the spur gear is not tight enough, hold the truck and hit the gas, if it doesn't make alot of pressure on ur hand then try tightning it, this happened 2 me and the thing wouldn't shift at all, another thing is that if the servos arn't opening the carb all of the way then that will make for a slow take-off, so try the spur gear slipper clutch and if that doesn't do it then try adjusting the servos.
