slow steering problem

I'm runing the savage 25 with a lot of aftermarket hopups & the jr xs3 radio system..........my steering is realy slow.....the radio i programed the steering response for fast which that setting is for didgital servos which i have installed.......i put in new berings, ball joints & all and that didnt help.......i also spent 50$ on a high torque jr steering servo & that didnt help either, still slow even with the hump pack fully charged which is only a month old........I'm including a picture of part of the linkage of the stock manual........it is a springy thing that has some sort of threads & a ring adjustment of some sort...... i think its an adjustment anyhow..........will turning this ring thing make the steering faster or slower ?.......

What size tires are you running and is your truck alor heavier than it used to be? I know when i ran big joes on mine it was pretty slow/standstill if the truck wasn't moving. With the mashers its fine, not fast but it gets the job done.

Grab your tire and try to turn it. does it turn fairly ez and does the servo sound ok?
 
I'm running 40 series weldracing beadlocks/maxamizer tires & the whole truck weights 14lbs without the body & fuel......the tires turn freely & have all new bearings and the servo is new with just the normal small noise....i didnt have the steering problem till i replaced the spring thing
 
Do you have the new cam type servo saver or the OG one? Are you aftermarket parts consists of Aluminum in the steering?
 
just tighten up that spring. Thats called a servo saver, and it slips to "save your servo" when you reinstalled the spring, you just didnt tighten it enough I bet. I've had that problem before, very simple to fix. Make sure it still slips a little though.
 
You don't want to have it fully compressed so the saver won't be allowed to do what it was meant for.
 
it is the cam servosaver........can too much tightening on the spring put the steering in a bind to where it slows down.......that would realy suk to ruin this servo cause the thing was about 50$ & my air on my house air unit went out.......that means i caint buy nothin fer the savage for a while till i get the air up running again.......
 
well if you tighten it all the way, you would need a very tough servo otherwise I would guess it would ruin the servo pretty quick. The servo should slip when the tires are being held in one place. You can see on the servo saver where its like wavy, that part slips. You will see what I'm talking about when you try it.
 
speedticket. If the servo saver is too tight you run the risk of burning up the servo. If it is not tight enough you will not steer like it should. I don't know that it would slow it down, but it would definatly not be effective.
 
i loosened the saver till i have 4mm of threads at the end & that helped it a bit......i think the rest of the problem is the tires......not the size but the treads........I'm runing 40 series beadlocks & tires that aint but 1/4in taller than stock tires but the things have realy big knobd/spikes on the tread......think ill change them to a smaller knob & see what that does......this is an old pic.......i have many more upgrades including engine, etc
