Slipper gear, it could have worn pegs. it needs to be tightened all the way down and backed of about 1/8 - 1/4 turn. engine tuning, the low speed needle may be set too rich, try leaning it in 1/8 or less increments and see if it gets better. clutches, check the clutch shoes and the inside of the bell. What temps is the engine running at?
