Ok I did my first change of the slipper gear because I finally broke 2 teeth of the stock one (lasted 6 monts or better damn good for plastic if you ask me). I went to my joke of a lhs (different story) and all they had were 70 tooth not 72 like stock. I figured screw it I wanted to run my Maxx to test the new Proline Steering kit and new JR 550 Throotle/Brake servo. Well I new fewer teeth meant a little less top speed but I said what the hay I run on a track anyway so I want faster accel since theres no room to hit 50 (yes 50 off a stock 2.5 engine) so I went for it. Well what a difference 2 teeth make! wheewee can you say animal! I think I may go 68 tooth now. Should I cange the clutchbell gearing intead? doesn't the clutch bell gear effect the gearing in the same way. I need some help explaining it to me.

The more teeth on the sliper clutch gear = more bottom end. The same will happen if you go down on your clutch bell teeth. more torque. more leverage. Pure physics. I prefer more torque than top end.

I though more gears gives you more top speed or topend and less gears means more bottom end or off the line grunt. Guess is was all in my head.

Less teeth on the bell = torque less speed
It is the exact opposite for the spur.

Rule of thumb, going up 3 teeth on the spurr is like going down 1 tooth on the bell.

HEHE, Going down one tooth on the bell. (OUCH)
I know this girl from Kuntucky.......:burp:

Spur gear:
smaller - top speed
larger - acceleration

Clutch bell:
smaller - acceleration
larger - top speed

Is that right?
