I got my new CB and spur gear today, first off I want to ask about the cb as the new one came with 2 washers and the old only had one putting both on there is no slop in it as far as sliding in and out but does not spin as freely as if I just put one washer on. how should it be....in the mean time I took off the old spur gear only to discover my slipper clutch pads were more less junk, chucks of the pads were missing. What caused that to happen and what signs should have told me this. What should I get for replacements?

You talking about the big washers or these-()? You need one big washer on each side of the pads, and the curved ones are for spring pressure.

well it does seem that they sent me () with the cb, when i took the old cb off there there was just the clutch shoes then the cb over those with a single flat washer then the e clip. I also noticed that when taking the spur gear off it had () behind the nut but not a spring like I have seen on all other slipper clutch set ups. I am working on a tmaxx 4907.

i just pulled up the exploded view of the tranny for the 4907 and got my answers there.

As for the cb,shim as needed Depends on the cb you are running, sometimes teflon washers are needed behind the bell to keep it from contaccting the flywheel, sometimes not, sometimes one is needed to keep the clutch from rubbing the inside face of the cb,and most of the time one or two are needed only to be placed on the outside of the cb,it should spin freely but shouldn't have any "in out play"
Post a few pics after its together and we will further explain

if I just put one washer on it as it was when I took the factory cb off there is just a slight in/out play but the old clutch shoes that I took off there was a bit of unworn shoe on the back side. If I put 2 washers on it there is no play, I am able to spin it easily but would not say it is free spin.

As long as there is no clutch shoe visible on the back side you will be fine with the slight play, otherwise another teflon washer will be needed under the "c clip"

I am asking about both as my concern I had with the slipper clutch pad is 2 pads were broken and was wondering what I may have done to cause that, I have not drove the truc that much and what the signs when the pads are broken as I had no idea until I changed my spur gear.

Right ,and you said that you got the spur situation figured out in one post, and we've concured on the cb,so where do you stand now,?are you Still wondering why the slipper pads were broke?...if so then usually they break because there old and oil soaked,..too tight, loose pad screws, a warped slipper plate.or all of the above

Yeah they don't hold up very long. I would look for a whole slipper to keep as a spare, because it's real easy to break a pressure plate too.

Cast preassure plate is why they break,I would like to see a billet machined one

Ya that's what I'm saying,if it was a machined piece it wouldn't break like that

ya I figured out my spur situation in a recent post however I did not take things apart until I got my new cb and spur in the mail a couple days ago only to find that I had another problem and you semi answered my question as I was just wondering what signs in my trucks performance should I have known that my pads were broke to begin with.

I thought I would go to a hobby shop about an hour from me just to scope out what they had and hoped to get the 5352r rebuild kit and maybe support a shop being I buy mostly from TH but they sucked. I did buy the original pads just to have and order a few 5352r's just to have....I am learning
