I am seriously thionking of doing the sirio 2.5 conversion in my spormaxx. i have heard very good things about it from my lhs. But the only bad thing i have heard that it is a bitch to tune, like 1/16 turns. has anyone had any problems w/ it.

Hey, I have a 2.5 T-Maxx and I am looking for a conversion 2, The Sirio seems to be the cheapest possible way to gain 5+ mph not to mention the 1.9 hp you get. I am wondering about the tuning myself. My LHS said there a lil tricky, But I could be wrong, It depends, So me and you are wondering about these engines huh lol, Good Luck , Later:cheers:

No problem tuning my sirio here.. Unless I'm going from a nice 38* day to a 2* night bash in the parking lots

Not tricky at all. Replaced a trx-.15 with one. Actually, probably the easiest engine I've had as far as tuning goes... 1/16 turns on the hsn is probably what I'd use as a rule of thumb for any engine, anyways, but moderate temp changes do not affect the Sirio .18 very much.

I've only had to set the LSN once, as well. I'd buy another one in a heartbeat.

Thanks you guys...I'm going Strong with the Sirio.18!!! Also do you guys live in VA? J/w so I Can get a r/c club together. Thanks again and FSTFBDY and Spill , you guys have awsome tmaxx's! Later guys:banana:

Danke.

I'm in Austin, Texas, actually. Little too far to drive. ;)

No the conversion i am looking at is the replacement 5 port sirio piston and sleeve. so it will be almost be exactly like a sirio 18 because the 2.5 is a 18 size engine.

Ohhhh so not the Sirio .18 TX-11 , Its the Tmaxx 2.5 engine? With Sirio sleeve and piston. Reply if I'm right and i will give more info. Later!

If it is what I'm talking about you should be able to do it b/c it is made for the exact transfer into the 2.5 , But the Sirio is a good engine... Explosive power. The only thing is that you will have to tune ..... lets say a lil more than you would have to tune a O.S. So you just have to know how to tune a nitro engine well.. I hope you get ur search going good and I hope i have helped, LaTeR MaN:buggy1:

yes it is the maxx 2.5 engine. but also it should not be very different from that sirio engine because the 2.5cc maxx is a .18 sized engine. and yes it is with the sirio piston and sleeve. it is a direct factory conversion, so it should not be a hassle to do.

I seen a tech article on the 2.5 upgrade, but They actually did the turbo crank, rod, piston and sleeve... and said it was a night and day diff.

They say most people do just the sleve and pistons and notice a diff.

You shuld be fine and Will like it.

Hey guys,

First of all...the Trx 2.5 is definitely a .15 engine. I had a Sirio .18 in 4-Tec Pro (the older 6 port version). I'm now running the Sirio .18 8 port version in one of my Maxx's. It's a screaming top end engine that pulls hard but it's NOT a huge difference between the 2.5 in terms of overall power. Some of my bash buddies that went the Sirio .18 route aren't impressed @ all for the expensive Italian price of around $189.00 on average and $229.00 for the version that fits in the older Maxx. If you want serious power overall, you need a true big bore. I would reco the SIrio to most keeping in mind that it's not going to add allot to your top end but it gets their allot faster.

As for tuning, Well...it's almost unfair to compare the Sirio .18TX to the Trx 2.5 as the 2.5 is a tuning nightmare @ times. I would say the the SIrio .18 is fair when it comes to tuning and holding a tune. It's not an OS but MUCH easier then the TRx 2.5.

Your talking about doing the Sirio piston and SLeeve that's made specifically for the Trx 2.5. Yes, I have a 2.5 with Sirio piston and sleeve and it kicks ass. It adds power though the entire power band and makes the 2.5 slightly easier to tune and runs slightly cooler.

Hey bro,

Yeah I also read this article. I think it was in RC action. I read that article after I put the SIrio piston and sleeve in my maxx. They also noted that it added power though the entire range. I wouldn't say it was a night and day power gain but it's pretty significant and especially considering that the Sirio piston&sleeve is only around $10 more then a stock Traxxass piston and sleeve.

For the price, I doubt the Turbo crank adds much if any power. The Sirio conrod is made for engine longevity more then performance.

Thank you guys for helping me on this descision.
My 2.5 P and S is about worn out, and looking for a rebuild.
I will definitely go for the 2.5 sirio.
Thank you all for the insight, but please keep it coming!

let us know when you do it.

I have a spair 2.5 motor in need of a piston. I've been debating to drop a sirio p$s in it and selling it.
