hi everyone, i have a hpi rs4 3 type ss and i want a new engine.

i was thinking in two options the trinity sirio SP12TRPPROT ( i know its outlaw but i don care because its for parking lot use  ) the other one its the trinity sirio S15-TUP AF., ok seems to me bove are very powerfull engines but i want to know if someone out there have try one of this babys and can tell me somenthing about it.

i know that i have to change to rear exhaust system and the carb linkage but need to know if there its somenthing else to know.

any coment will help, thank you people

Welcome to RCNT pototo17.

There is room for a rear exhaust on a SS, but its tight. 007Kel got an RB c12 side exhaust on his and it flys. Get in touch with him and see what he suggests.

Thanks a lot mjime714 i would contact him, but do you think that c12 its better engine than the sirio SP12TRPPROT because in that way i dont have to change the exhaust system and i can save some bucks and spend it in other things jeje.

I have not experience with the sirio, but I know a guy who Mods engines and he says his sirio will beat out a JP modified. Also, he says the sirio has a lot of unneeded material making it heavy, but after his mods its a lot lighter and has better rpms. I have seen his work and its awesome, but have not tested any of his engines. I am planning on it, but I cannot vouch for it until then.

ok., thanks mjime714

Hey and how about your engine., i can see that you have an RB X12t where you get it??

that its a nice engine too ., i am absolutly sure of that. maybe thats a good option for me but i dont know where to buy it.

please tell me something about that engine.

regards.

This engine is a monster. The one I have is a .12 turbo button 5 port. I have it on my GT4. I clocked it with a radar at an average of 53mph geared for small tracks which means the accelerations is better, but top speed is less. I got it at Ultimate Hobbies, but they dont sell it on their website. I got it for $199, but I heard they raised their prices. I have a friend who also has a GT4, but is running a Muget MT12. His is a turbo, but only a 3 port and it runs pretty close to mine. That sucker is fast. He also has a cyntax clutch where I have a 3 shoe. I would recommend it to anyone who could use a rear exhaust.

I am looking at getting an STS motor though. Check them out at the CRC webstore. They are cheap and really fast. I'm looking at the MT12 modified. They also have a turbo 5 port and is cheaper than the RB. Check to make sure you could use an SG shaft with your clutch. I hear you can use the yokomo gt4 clutch if you get an SG shaft, but I am not sure. More info on the STS engines can be found at the STS site

Hope this helps!

Do you think that sts mt12 modified is faster than your RB x12t???

you know maybe i decide for the RB X12t like that one too.:D

ultimate dont have it anymore but i believe there its a place in miami where i can found.

please let me know wich of those motor its beter if you have the information, becuse bove have practiclly the same price.

Thanks a lot

I dont know if it will be faster, but I do know it will be easier to tune. that STS turbo 5 port is really fast as well. I would go for that if you dont mind doing the rear exhaust SG shaft thing for your SS.

You can put a Rear exhaust on your car, a few company make a header for it. I have a OS header that will be able to mount it on the SS with a RE engine. I got a good feeling the STS RS5 will be able to hang with other mod engines, their very fast.

Thank you akina for the tip on the os header, that was the other thing that i have in mind at the moment of buy the new engine.

i was thinking on buy an RD logic header, but now i can make a choice:)

Yep, I hear they are really competitive also. They will keep up with the best of them. I dont know first hand, but everyone I talk to that runs them say they kick butt.

Just my 2 cents. You could put in as much power in the Type SS. But I also suggest upgrading the two speed as well.

thanks a lot 007.., actually i was thinking in that two..., jeje..:hehe: ..., that car have a lot of gearing comboc that i can put on it., so when my new engine comes i am going to start trying a lot of gears combos.

thanks for the tip, but now i have a question: what i should do with the stock engine mounts and the flywheel, because i was thinking to changing bove things and at the same time change the gears ratios, but i saw in the other post that you have problems with the gear mesh because you change the engine mounts, so now i am pretty confuse with that.

please any information that you get of wich its the best way , replay it to me.

thanks

Yeah, I'm still working on the gear combos. It seems that if you use the lower engine mounts and nonpullstart flywheel you're not going to get a tight mesh if you're geared high (i.e. using the 39/41 or 37/41 spur gears). I've must have worn out a half dozen of my 39/41 setups.

I try to learn what the chart on HPIracing means. But I don't know what axle distance is and no one else knows. So this is what I came up with so far. I reinstalled my stock engine mounts and pullstart flywheel. I then used my 39/41 spur gears and the red pinion gears. I ran it for a couple of tanks and the gears did not wear out. The next day, I changed the spur gears to 37/41. These combos worked out and showed no indication of wear. But when you're running the car on 1st gear it will rev high and then engage. Mjime 714 says that happens to his Yokomo as well. So far I don't know the long terms effects of this high-rev-slip-into gear thing.

I say I don't know the long term effects because I went out parking lot bashing yesterday and trashed my Type SS. I hit a damn brass counter sunk plug on the ground. My car flys about 5 feet in the air. In the meantime, we could see parts fly out in slow motion. I did some major damage: cracked graphite upper deck, cracked throttle servo, cracked rear spindle, bent brand new 3mm chassis, busted tranny housing, and I don't know what else. I may not getting running for a couple of weeks

"We like the cars... the cars that go boom"

Damn kel, you totally called it yesterday. You forsaw your massive crash. That was freaky.

Yes, i did wickedly call it. It's like that got milk commercial:
stop...a tree falls in front of a car.
don't eat the cake...there's no milk.
there's 1 1/4 counter sunk brass plugs lined up on the Rose Bowl parking lot...a type ss flies 4 feet in the air in pieces.
