RC Driving Style
so i will be getting a sirio engine soon. most likely within 4 days.

i will be using the stock 2.5 pipe and header. also the stock driveshafts. but with aluminum hex nuts. is there anything i should get for my truck that will help the performance or durabilty when i get it? and ill have a machined engine mount. I'm just wondering if there is anything else i will need.

thanks

If you have not already upgraded the slide axles on your ride, you may want to consider getting some CVDs.

Beyond that, it would help to know what you already have in order to not recommend something you may already own.

The best thing you can do for that engine is get the Sirio pipe to go along with it. No kidding, it's a night and day difference.

NO chit......The stock plastic pipe that comes with the 2.5 (.15) Maxx is nice for that engine but is seriously restricting with a .18 Sirio as that pipe is tuned for a .15 and doesn't have the volume. You can get the Sirio Big Bore pipe on Fleabay for $36.00 shipped which is the cheapest I've seen anywhere. I payed $45(+tax of course) @ my LHS. The SIrio pipe is loud and proud and the sound resontates very well. I've run my Fantom racing .18 tuned metal pipe on the Sirio .18 and it kicked ass but the price for the Fantom price is rediculous (averaging $75-84.00).

As for "Alluminum Hex nuts". WHy do you wanna run Alluminum Hex nuts that are heavier and much more expensive when the plastic ones hold up to even the meanest big bore power that you can throw @ them (from what I've seen). Unlike the Savage, the T-maxx wheel-hex design is nice and generally doesn't break.

As for other upgrdes, As Sky pointed out....what do you already have? You may not need to upgrade anything or you might melt and/or break your plastic tranny gears and blow your spider gears in your diffs over time. I disagree with Sky in regard to CVD's as I'd wait until you actually tweak drivelines before you make the HIGH $$$ investment in good CVD's.

Peace

30%NitroBoy, jumps again. Dude, note that I said "may want to consider". That is hardly a ringing endorsement of the "you must have" variety.

As far as upgrades go, drive train would be the only one I'd be worried about. And the weakest link in that is the crappy slide axles. Busted or overtorqued slide axles are always a show stopper as not too many people carry spares in their field box. I do, only because I still have sliders for center drives. They are my appointed weak link...I over torque them about every other bash session (usually when I play in the mud).

So, feel free to comment on the high cost of the CVDs, but you are hardly disagreeing with me.

Fair enough Skyy...lol...I think we're all on the same page here dude. So you are running the stock centerdrive sliders and CVD's front and rear? What CVD's are you running Sky??

Cozea - Again, please do yourself a favor and don't sufficate your 1.9 HP .18 engine with a pipe tuned for a 1.3HP .15. You'll thank us all in the morning.

I have MiP CVDs for outdrives. They handle the torque of the Fantom just fine. The centerlines just twist out of the diff cups or get overtorqued frequently.

Stock sliders with my Sirio.18

this is a Mild twist. I have worse ones. I have since moved to MIP CVD's

Also went from a Stock 2.5 pipe to a sirio bb pipe. Big diff.
Seems to rev quicker. Then again maybe thats cuz I swaped from a metal Spur to a DD RRP Plastic one.

either way Tune was WAY off with the pipe switch.

Get the Big Bore Pipe, best upgrade for power that you can do. 30% nitro and a head shim will give a little more. Like everyone else has said; cvds by mip are the very best, rpm a arms, rrp double slipper and for you application the the plastic spur would work just fine. There are plenty more things to do but I'd start with those.

steel is your friend

I have had the sirio .18 in my maxx 2.5 for about a gallon of use. The stock motor will blow driveshfts like crazy so i got the cvds (highly recomended). I have not yet though blown any of my tranny gears, knock on wood. And for sure get the sirio .18 pipe. I got my pipe before i got the .18 and ran it on the stock motor and it ran awsome!!! So with the new motor It runs better the more you run it. And once you get the neddles ajusted you dont have to mess with them again. not finicky like the stock motor! I have over a gallon in mine and it runs great! Wheelies like never before!! Note: tempguns work great.
