single servo conversion?

ok well i blew out the gears in my 2055 steering servo on the right hand side and for 4 bucks i can replace those gear but i was thinking wat the hell why not do an upgrade while I'm here so heres the question can i do the single servo conversion RIGHT for under a 100 bucks or will a 60 dollar servo blow up after 6 monthes??
 
My guess is if the single servo replaces the torque of the duals it will work. A 5645mg replaces the same amount of torque that you got from two Traxxas servos (stock servo is 80 oz of torque) for under 50 bucks.

If I may recommend it though, a servo such as this one may suit your needs better since 133 oz is more than enough for a 10th scale truck unless you're a racer.

If you buy a new servo though make sure the radio you have can adjust endpoints, otherwise you will fry the servo from extending it too far.

all you need is a servo and an aluminum arm is a good idea when doing it.You can get a 9100t for 114.00 or less and thats 300+ torque but I think anything over 160 is fine.I bought some Tower Pros for my Cybermaxx that were like 210 torque and .15 or less speed and paid under 25.00 for two off ebay.They came from Hong Kong.I am sure they are not the highest quality but the torque is way better than stock,the speed seems to be the same or better,and they are digital metal geared.I have not had a problem.I think they are MG 695 and I bought throttle servos also for the same price I think they were 5210.
 
i was also thinking about doing this, besides the high torque servo what else do you need to do that conversion? i heard having the aluminum steering arms are a good thing to buy
 
so i can't do the higher end servo with stock traxxas radio gear??
 
You will not get all the speed and torque that the high dollar Digital servos have to offer with a Traxxas radio.
But it will work and you can upgrade your radio later.
I would be scared to run a 115 dollar servo with a radio that does not have end-point adjustment. If you have the servo trying to turn the wheels further than the linkages alllow it will eat the servo gears or burn the motor.
I have the JR9000t( old version of the 9100t) and highly recommend it, it has been dead reliable. It will turn the wheels lock to lock on carpet no problem. blah....

so a 645 and then grind of the bump stops and itll work or?? will my traxxas radio fry the 645??
