So I took off my Ez start because it stopped working 3 weeks into owning my revo. So I put a pull start on which I was going to do anyways and took it out for a test run. Now my radio cuts out for 2-3 sec at random times. It can get in a straight line, turning, barley moving and then it comes back and is fine. i have checked the antenna, changed the RX battery and changed the remote batteries. What else should I check. When this happens the sensor light comes on in the truck. Nothing has been touched since the last time I ran it other than pulling the EZ start off, sealing the motor and putting a roll cage on. The roll cage is kinda close to the antenna but would that cause random signal loss?

You wouldnt think it would..
I've never heard any1 with a roll bar say it has..

Hope some1 can tell you cause i wanted to get a roll bar..
Do you have 2.4ghz..?

i had something similar to that happen to me not long ago...my problem was the throttle servo ....the truck would go into failsafe mode for a couple seconds then come back to life ....since i changed it , everything is good as new ;) ....so check your servos ...it could be your problem......the servo was still working ...but it was sluggish and sounded a bit funny when i was making it move ....hope that helps

^ I am going to take it to the lhb tomorrow and get them to check it out. I Tried everything I can w/o having new servos etc so maybe they can see something that I am not. I wouldnt think that a servo would go bad after 3 weeks or so but with all the issues that I had with this thing it is highly possible. At least i got 6 tanks or so thru it w/o anything breaking lol:hehe:

servos can go bad at any time ...they can last years ..like they can last days ..but your description sounds alot like what mine did ...and the servo was the problem

hope they find the problem for you ;) ...good luck

I hope so getting tired of all the issues. Before to long it wont be a Revo anymore lol

lol...i love my revo ;) ..i had a few issues with it to ..but once they were fixed ..all was good :D ....always good to have spare parts to ( like servos ) ..i basicly have a complete truck in parts ..got them off ebay for cheap ..that way , when something goes wrong , i dont have to wait ;)

You must not be drivin it properly then :P lol jk

:hehe: They guy at the lhs can't believe how much I broke on this thing. And by breaking I mean something that can't be fixed in a 20 mins or so. ;) The other day I couldnt figure out why I kept over heating. Well when I got home I was looking it over and cleaning it some and noticed that my header was almost bent closed in on spot and bent 1/2 closed by the head. He said he had never seen that before.

Guy at lhs figured it out. Even tho both of us didnt think it would have anything to do with it we tried anyways. OptiDrive FTL! Unhooked it and works fine again. O well, guess I needed to make up some weight savings for the roll cage :hehe:

maybe just reprograming the optidrive would have done the trick ...just be carefull if you have reverse on it ...not to shift when moving .....i took the optidrive out to when my servo was glitching ...thought that maybe that was the problem .....

one thing i like with no optidrive , is that the throttle is not restricted to 75% when i put it in reverse ...the truck is basicly as fast on reverse than in forward :D

Yeah I had a weird issue today and I am wondering if it was the cause or the opitdrive doing what it was. I was running wot and the truck kicked into reverse full on. The truck of course stopped as I am sure the gear is stripped. The trigger on the remote was still in forward and I had to switch it back in forth a few times to get it to go back to forward. I wonder if there was a problem with it trying to go into reverse and the optidrive was killing it? I dont know enough about that system to know if it can do that or not but it sure was weird that happened. I think I am just going to to the FOC and call it a day.

The OptiDrive is there to prevent the truck from shifting into reverse while it's moving. If the reverse is shot most of us will recommend that you just go ahead and put the Forward Only Conversion (FOC) kit in it. This will make the tranny stronger and lighter. When I lost my reverse, I went ahead and installed the center diff and rear brake which made drive even better (no wheelies and better braking).

Yeah I know it would stop it from shifting. But if there was something mechanically wrong that was trying to force it into reverse while going forward does the optidrive have the ability to cut the signal like that?
And I was looking at the FOC but I am unsure about what the center diff does. What exactly is it changing?

the center diff replaces the slipper clutch.. the center diff will distribute the power of the truck more evenly and take away ALL wheelies.. but for racing, and even bashing its a great upgrade. I put in mine and I love it. When I'm out back with no wheelies I can actually run without hitting something when i wheelie and try to turn.. IMO, do the FOC, center diff, and rear brake all at once.

I had the same thing happen to my revo yesterday on my 6th tank of gas! I am trying to tune it and when I get it up to speed it just stops and idles low for a few seconds and then is fine for another minute. I got fed up and just took it to the hobby shop to fix it. I have a savage 4.6x and wanted to get the revo because I thought it would be better and more fun but I am thinking about selling it already...

Well if you look up a couple other of my threads I have had nothing but issues from day one with my Revo. My buddy got his a couple days after mine and he has had quite a few also. I think they all have issues you just have to work thru them.

I agree, do it all at once so the tranny only comes out once.
you get less down time..:D
