Had the idea of putting body posts on the sides of my TC4. It would allow me to mount the body on the lower edge vs on the top of the body. I think this would look real clean. Anyone have any ideas why this would not work?

As long as you can successfully mod body mounts to go on the sides, that would be fine. However, if you're going to race, I would stick with the top mounts. Side mounts can be easily mangled by other cars or the boards and next thing you know your body is in Turn 2 and the car is in Turn 10...

Or you might look into some way to fab up some velcro body mounts that run down the sides if the car, then you have no body posts to deal with and a very clean look...

Lessen made some good points. Plus the amount of mod needed may be a pain in the rear.

I just completed a hidden body mount modification on my HPI Sprint 2 drifter that uses neodymium magnets screwed into the body posts & washers epoxied to the underside of the body. The actual modification to the posts was minimal, just cutting down the height of the main posts & attaching the magnets to adjustable post toppers. It looks very clean and the magnet strength is more than enough to lift the car by the body and bounce it around without coming off. By epoxying some drywall tape to the underside of the body & then epoxying the washer on top the tape it spreads out the pull force so you don't get any paint lifting/pull when removing the body from the magnets.

I'll try to get some pics up today in my Members Projects thread on it when I get home from work.

sounds like we need a how to thread..... sounds interesting!!

Not sure about you, but the body on my TC4 doesn't touch anywhere near the body. I'm not sure how doing the side-mounting will work. Then again, I upgraded to the CF chassis. I'll check it out with the stock tub.

anything could be done with time money and patience! cool way to go for sure, definitely look wicked clean. if you do get it done would love to see pictures of it
