Hi everyone... Was out yesterday running my Slayer Pro 4x4 I only have Short Range with the 2.4 Gig Radio system.. I made certain my 1600Mah Rx Hump pack was fully charged made certain my radios batteries where fresh & tested them with tester all came up "good" on meter... This is the 2nd time this happened to me in 2 week's I am going to try to rebind system & see if that corrects the problem.. other than that I think it's a bad Radio/Rx system I will be calling traxxas on Monday in the mean time any suggestions on what it might be... Thanks for any help

Check your wires for any nicks, or pinch points. Also check the plugs and make sure they're not loose.

Come to think of it I did not try what you suggested Schrode.. & will check all of wire & plugs today & see what I come up with...

Testing the batts in the radio with a meter will not give you the info you need. They can still read a good voltage but not have enough amperage left to do what they should.
Any time there's a range problem, install brand new batteries. If it doesn't make a difference at least you have eliminated that possibility and you can save the old set since they should still be good.

I am going to try that option today I am also going to make sure my plugs & wires to RX are ok.. I think I might of jarred something loose when I was @ my HS off road track " I think I might of jarred something loose "... The ODD thing is my Friend said to me "Yesterday" I was not having this issue before I went to the Off Road Track & was just bashing with my buddies @ our local bashing spot & we Set Up Dura Traxx Quik Ramps in our area I hope I get the problem resolved....

Update: .....Still NOT WORKING..... I have been working on my Slayers Short Range RX problems all weekend... & can't figure it out..... I checked

Batteries in Radio & RX in Truck.
Made sure my Rx hump pack was fully charged & connected right way.
Changed out Batteries in Radio "brand new energizers".
Checked all RX wire's for frays & broken wires "all normal & ok"
Checked all RX Plugs
Checked all wires going to servos "throttle & steering" all look ok

I am beginning to thinks its a faulty RX / Radio & needs to be replaced by TRAXXAS... I am stuck I have no clue what the problem is... Been trying to correct / fix the problem 4 days now.

The thin wire that comes out at the end of the antenna has any bends, kinks in it or missing has always been the problem for my short range problems.

I called TRAXXAS Support & the tech told me it's a bad / damaged antenna & asked if I roll over the truck a lot... & thinks that's how it got damaged Traxxas said they will send me out another RX. But I need to show a sales slip I got it from Tower hobbies I had my invoice but shredded it because my Slayer was working good for well over 30 days. My friend said he keeps all of his sales slips for the hole time the guarantee is for before he sheds his slips... CRAP.... My friend has a brand new never used HPI 2.4 Gig RX & Radio in the box he's willing to sell me for a few bucks.... But I am not too keen on putting in a non-traxxas item.. but to get my SLAYER running right I might do it he wants $50.00 for the RX & Radio.

It doesn't matter if it's not a Traxxas system in there.
If that's the stock HPI it's about the same. You might want to look into a Flysky setup for more fine tuning options.

If you bought it from Tower, they store your entire purchase history for you to view online. You can print out an order slip.

Hi Rolex, I was also planning to buy flysky radio transmitter, cause it is cheap, is it a good radio? Thanks.

"Got my Range Restored on my SLAYER NICE" Well after talking to my Friend & we made a deal for a trade... I Traded a set of my Lightly Used Pro Line Badlands "witch I was not using anymore cause I now use the Trenchers".... For his brand new never used in the box HPI 2.4 Gig RX-Radio combo. It works GOOD I took notice the throttle response is a bit more responsive & steering is pretty quick too.. But that could be from my fully charged RX hump pack... But I shall see how this system works in the next few day's... Plus My HS said if I bring in the TRAXXAS RX they would send it in & get it replaced thru traxxas for me... So I will drop off my old traxxas RX & get a replacement...... But for now the HPI system should work OK....
