Looking for a new racer and want to know what is the best one out there. I an old Duratrax Streetforce GP and it is quick but I want FAST!!! What is the way to go for me?

"around" 350ish. But if it means being happy spending a lil more versus going cheap and getting pissed i would just spend the money.

Are we talking just street racing (drag racing ) or track racing? Belt drives are really nice for a groomed track but Shaft drives are great too but more recommended for bashing.

350ish will get you a nice FT NTC3.Check our For Sale forum and see if we have any members selling one.

I am into drag racing with my boys and they are into alot of different rides but I love the onroad racers. Has anyone tried the cen racing ct5? I heard it was fast and seen a vid clip of it but that is it.

ok,

strictly bashing with friends & want insane speed, correct? For that, I'd honestly suggest getting an HPI nitro3 (EVO if you want something to have "fun" with and bash around.) Then check out www.wolfpackradicals.com and take a look at their adjustable mounts..This will allow you to run a big block engine on that ride. The reason for the car choice is that parts availability for HPI is like that of a Honda Civic, EVERYONE has parts. Most will say go with a NTC3, but if you just want to bash, I think the HPI has more "non-track" aftermarket support.

WHOA I wonder how big I can go with that kit. A .32 in that thing would be sick!!! I like that and I think I seen that car for like 300 bones at my lhs. I do like the idea of a shaftdriven car though and the evo is belt drive. I wonder if a bigger mill would kill those lil belt on an Evo...

I don't see that being a problem as fitting... but the drive train I think will need some beefing up. These rigs are made to fit a .12-.18 . Look around.

Why would a belt drive be better on a groomed track and not a shaft drive? and as far as drag racing, what kinda tires?

??

The HPI Nitro3 EVO is a shaft drive (dual dogbone style) car. Your biggest problem with running a big block on the car is going to be "diff shimming" and keeping from eating diff gears...one of those "wanna play, gotta pay" type situations. Myself, along with quite a few others on this site have made some prettty heavily modified Nitro3's and I would be more than happy to assist you in finding effective upgrades and get the most out of the car.

FOAMS ftw! the get the best grip and allow more aggressive suspension settings...however, the have a shorter lifespan.

belt vs. shaft....10000000 bjillion threads about this, search around as it can't be summed up in one post. It's just as bad as the Ford vs. Chevy question.

Gotcha. I may do the evo cuz I seen a new NIB on ebay for like 285! I like the Traxxas n4tec too but it is a bunch more money.

....REVO, sure.....Jato, fine for a basher....4Tec, HELLLLLLLLLLLLL NO! Those rank right next to the good ole' Duratrash Streetforce. I don't really mean to bash those makers (sorry for the harsh choice of words...that's just me), but for the amount of money and labor it's going to take to make a solid drivetrain to handle the power of a high power engine, getting a less popular low-end car will just give you more headaches when you can't find any parts for it.

So do you believe i would be better with a shaft drive for the BB?

Ok let me try an sum it up....

For strictly "bashing" and drag-racing with a big block = Nitro3 (evo)
Small block racing with occaisional track use = NTC3

Belt drive cars would have less stress on the drivetrain but you'll run into higher repair costs because of rocks...can you run a belt and still bash, sure, I did it when I got my first car (HPI racer2) but I did have to replace 2 belts on the car due to pebbles...I'd shoot an email to wolfpack radicals and see what he says, he's put alot of time and money into making HPI's (both belt and shaft) big block capable and his parts are second to none.
