Ok guys I'm going to try and pick some brains todays,
I finished my t maxx and I'm very happy with it except for the suspension, I've searched the site and found some good advice butt I'm still struggling with it, shocks are for damping the ride springs are for height and recoil so knowing that how can I get my shocks to ride in the center of the shock bore for equal up and down damping if the springs are going to push on the shocks and extended them will longer shocks give me what I need and is thier a mathematical way to figure out suspension ride height and amount of dampening

The Traxxas Big Bores work well but you need to buy shock springs to go with them as they come with the same
lame:angry: 2.5lbs rate the stock maxx comes with.

Stiffer springs & 40wt~60wt shock fluid make a good bolt~on no mod need combo.

I agree with what your saying, I don't have the traxxas big bore shocks, I have big bore aftermarket adjustable shocks, with 50wt silicone oil, the issue I have is when I adjust the springs so they are stiff every crack/bump or pebble I run over the truck is very unstable, when I lessen the spring tension the truck bottoms out very easy, so at this point will different springs help me out or is it because I have added weight do to all the aluminum I have so that's why I was thinking longer shocks so the truck has more shock travel to handle all type of driving. Or am I just stressing over nothing.

You could check out RCRaven springs, I just ordered a set of their dual rate springs for my LST, they're only $12.xx for the T-Maxx and I've read a lot of good things about them.

Those shocks will work fine, I would get the RC Boys dual rate as you get the best of both spring rates.

They start at 3lbs and as they get compressed go up to 7lbs.
Dual Rate springs offer enhanced handling for your truck by using different stiffness ratings in different parts of the spring. The softest section of the spring has a rating of 3lbs/in and lets the shocks soak up small bumps without disturbing the rest of the suspension. The stiffest section is rated at 7lbs/in and is ready to handle the harder impacts. The net effect is that as the spring is compressed further, it gets stiffer.

The RC Raven Dual rates would be choice #2 if the RC Boys aren't available.

You will still need to experiment with different weight shock fluid till you the wt that best suites your driving style.

If the new springs fit a little loose on the shock collars you can squeeze the ends with pliers to get them to fit a little tighter.

Ok thanks for the info, when I install the springs will the adjustment capability I have with my shocks throw off the springs characteristics if I tighten or loosen the shock collars.

Only if you go crazy with the spring collar, but that shouldn't be necessary.
