hi, well i have had my first casualty, and beleive it or not it was a shock that broke. I had thought it would have been a dogbone or maybe even an A arm but the plastic shock body snapped right in half. What would be the best replacement for all of them hot bodies? And what wieght of iol should i use. Thanks

Honestly I dont know. So far, I have had problems with the HotBodies threaded alum.. 2 of them leak and there is no reason why they should. This has happened since I installed them. Replaced the rubber cups in the caps twice and still no luck. No stripped threading and all looks good. Just leak. I'm going to swap the ball ends with the stock ones too. They are beefier and mount better.

I'm hoping Losi, AE or Dynamite come out with one that will work soon.

Anyone try the GPM shocks yet?

The HBS61161 are the Hot Bodies shocks. Dont get me wrong, they are better than stock. Just not as good as I expected.

I put 40wt in and it may be a little too stiff. I'm probably going to back it down to 30wt. The stock only came filled with 10 weight so you know.

Those are the Hot Bodies shocks that Çh®i§tiªñ mentioned. I have a set on my Savage also. Though I have not had a leaky shock yet; I too am looking for something better. These did not come with an upper bushing (why? I don't know) and the bottom rod end is weaker than it should be (I replaced all rod ends with something beefier--stock TRAXXAS rod ends). Also, I used the stock Savage shocks bottom spring retainer as the one that comes with the HB shocks does not go well with a beefier rod end.

So, is this a good shock? I'd say it is a nice start on a good idea, but I think HB has some fine tuning to do before they are great shocks.

As for oil weight, I use 60wt in mine for some hardcore bashing. Seems to do the trick.

what about the integy piggyback shocks has anyone had experience with them?

Christian and Sky, don't tell me that, ugh. I just put a set of the HB shocks on mine and haven't really gotten to run them yet. Do they leak at the top or the bottom? My set came with a length of black tubing I had to cut for top bushings. I also had to scrounge some metric washers so they wouldn't slide off and bugger up the top cap. One other thing, my sav seems to ride lower with the new shocks. Are the springs softer than stock?

well i ordered my integy piggybacks today, hopefully they arent on backorder too long, probably be a couple weeks till i gety em, till then i will have to find another stock shock to fill the gap, anyone out there use the integy piggy backs? and what weight of oil do you use?

Mine leak at the top. Still trying to figure out why. I havent run the Integy shocks YET, but thats a strong choice right now according to some others. I think I'm just going to wait for a few more aftermarkets to come out before I switch sets again.

I went with WFC 4lb springs. They make a 6# too.

401 - Check out the tech info page here. I even did a HB shock mounting page hehehe

Ok, I feel better now. Just got back from a bash session, and I'm glad my Sav aint my girlfriend. I found a temp gun at radio shack (don't laugh, it works and it was only $30 with the battery) and used it just now. Like I said, I like Blue thunder and the spit test said dead cold, but the temp gun said 350. I ended up richening it up and was almost doing wheelies when this happened:
bustedshaft1.jpg

This dogbone was (notice the past tense) the rear drive shaft between the tranny and the diff. This was after running about 3.5 tanks straight and having a ball (Chris knows what kind of holiday I've been having). Anyway, It aint that bad if that's all I busted, at leaste I got to run some.

I did have 1 HB shock leak. It somehow got unscrewed about 2 turns (the top). I don't understand why, but it did. The others looked fine. I think I'm gonna wrap some teflon tape on the threads the next time I have the tops loose from the mounts.

I thought the HB shocks worked great, though the ride height was a bit lower than normal. Also the rebound is slow (I actually saw them slo-mo rebound in the air on one jump), but I can deal with it.

One last thing, the roll bar I made is tough. I bashed the crap outa the sav and the roll bar wasn't even slightly bent. Check out the abomination in my galery (cost, about $7).

Sorry about being lengthy, I get that way when I'm pumped and have had a good fix 'o nitro.

And the head is still there! That cage did take a pounding. Seen the gallery. :burp:

Always Good to hear of a great bashing!

Congrats on the temp gun too! Made a huge difference for me. You can only gain from using one.

Ok Off Topic but

Damn Those shocks are long

Getting parts for the maxx and saw them
and I think My jaw hit the floor:breakdown
