so i picked uup a old t-maxx with the .15 engine. I can tell the maxx was run without the body onit. The engine cooler has been bent. Its been bashed real hard. Broken parts for the bumpers, shocks and so on. I'm going to be getting rpm replacement parts for the body. My ? is what is the best shocks that i should use on this. Also motor hasnt been run in about 1 year so I'm going to take apart and see what condition its in. But worst case senario ill have to upgrade the motor. I was reading that the best upgrade without and changes would be to through a OS 18 in ( is this correct). Thanks for any help you can shed on this. ill post pics up soon. thanks

From what I have been reading the traxxas big bore shocks are the way to go, and yes the OS 18 is a great upgrade. I'm going to go the 3.3 upgrade route through traxxas on mine just because it is cheaper and I don't really need anything more to just have some fun.

is the 3.3 upgrade easy? will i need to upgrade anything else besides the motor and the new chassis form a 3.3?

I"m sure to be corrected if I am wrong but in my case (2.5) isn't it just a motor swap?
Bolt the old parts onto the new motor and vroom..vroom?
wft the 1.5 upgrade I got this from the traxxas forum:
"Yep, but you will need the conversion kit for the slide carb and the rear exhaust, the header comes with it.

Those .15 center drive shafts and wheel axles probably will not last a tank of fuel with the 3.3. And the old diffs will take a beating as well.

Lots of upgrading to do if you want a somewhat dependable .15 chassis with a 3.3 pushing it. "

Hope that helps you

I just did an engine replacement on my old T-Maxx .15 this weekend, and I highly suggest the OS .18 CVRX(s). It is a direct drop-in for this TRX .15 with nothing else needed. Make sure you get the (s = short shaft) version or you would have to cut the shaft down. I just pulled off the old header, flywheel, clutch nut, and installed them on the new engine. Everything fit and was done in 1/2 hour and ready to run. These run $130, but take into account the cost of a conversion kit if you go with a different traxxas engine.

looks liek ill be going with the OS .18 then. Thanks for the info guys
