Hey guys, I have a savage 25 i have been to our local track to race it. I would like to have an edge on the other guys there, so i would like to start with shock upgrade for racing. I only have 75 bucks to spend what do you savage racer use or recommed?
Also anyone recommed shocks for bashing in the backyard?

Thanks, tyson

The best shocks for the Savage are the stock ones. If you must change to something else, I would get the HotBodies "race" shocks because they are exact replicas of the stock shocks only in aluminum. The parts interchange as well.

DO NOT get the HB threaded shocks. I have heard way to many people complain about them.

thanks mcvickj are the hotbodies shocks are they the same length as the stocks ones, because i would like to have my 25 lower so i dont have much roll over?

Yes I believe they are the same length. If you want to lower your Savage why not just remove the stock spacers?

They just pop off the shock. They might need a lil help with a flat head screw driver. I will see if I can find a pic of em.

really easy to pop off
helps a little but on big jumps you can bottom out
the suspension is a little softer due to less preload
but it does help make it stable
next on the list is to convert to a wider wheels base and some hybrid goodies

thanks chugger i just got a set of dish wheels , bow tie tires and trinity firm inserts foam.

no prob man
i really want some paddle tires for the snow
hehe
i love the way those look

i can use them for some sand drags as well

i dont know wether to get 4 or 2 paddle tires i do have 4wd but the front wheels make limited contact to ground

If i kept the stock shocks how can i make them race ready diff. fuild or diff. springs? I have to do something because i have to much rolling over.

Yes i agree the stock shocks are the best you can get them to ride how ever you want all you have to do is change springs and shock oil. Also if you dont want to be able to flip as easy then widen your stance.

I did widen the stance when i bought the proline rims and tires with there 1/2 option this was a huge help.

i plan to get the aluminum shocks and some diff. spring settings
i heard bad things about the threaded aluminum shocks
I also saw a dual spring setup which interested me
i am getting the kit to widen the stance as well as the rims to make it even wider
wider is better
hehe
anyone have any useful info on shock fluid and spring setups
thanks
chris

i found some shocks at rcboyz that are piggybacked and are a wider diameter i believe but arent cheap

any opinions on these

If i would change the oil weight in the shocks, what oil weight would make the savage 25 have a softer ride.

lighter weight if i am not mistaken
i am gonna try 40wt to stiffen mine up mine has way too much slop
lata
chris
