If I put stiffer springs on my stock springs, will that help my suspension verses buying a whole new set of shocks?

You can also put diffrent oil in them to make them perform diffrently thicker oil will make them stiffer.

Oh :) it would still help him out as far as performance wouldnt it ?

So stiffer springs will help the bottoming out?

Yes you could also add spring spacers and that will also make your springs stiffer instead of replacing them

Only springs make them stiffer. Heavier oil will slow the rebound.
Thanks for the info Rolex
Sorry my bad
I think I'm going to :puke:

The stock springs arent too good for jumping, because they are just too soft. When you get stiffer springs, it really helps the jumping and body roll.

You got spacers with it. They are different sizes. Mix and match, see what you like. If you want a stiffer ride without a shorter travel, you'll need stiffer springs.

Well I want to minimize the leaning of the body when I'm turning and also the dipping/raising of the body when I'm accelerating and breaking. Stiffer springs should do this right?

Yes If you make it to stiff it might not handle well on rough terrain because it will want to bounce off the ground instead of letting the shock absorb the bumps.

I've also seen this shock the mnt infront of your shock tower verticaly then it has two bars that go down to the A-Arms so when you take a corner fast the shock absorbs the pressure, seems like it might limit wheel travel though I seen the on ebay for a while I can't remember what they were called or if they work but they looked cool :)

same concept as the sway bar just with a shock

New era makes some killer sway bars if you want some performance on the track.

Are sway bars recommended for bashing though??? I don't plan on racing my tmaxx at all.

I could be wrong, but I believe that sway bars reduce the amount you maxx can flex. If ur a basher, i dont think you would want that.

I upgraded all 8 of my shocks to rc raven dual rates. It greatly helped the bottoming out problem i previously had. I would highly recommend them to you.

Its funny you should mention that. I just came from RCRaven, they are one of my LHS, and I just got some of their dual rate springs. I was going to ask if I should change all 8 but you just answered my question. Thanks!!

I'll pass on the sway bar then. I was thinking about it.

No to change the spring, I take the shock off and what do I need to unscrew to take off the spring??

The bottom cap, at the end of the shaft, with most shocks there's a slit. Compress the spring, pull the cap up, and slice the slit off the shock shaft. Then the spring comes off.

Is there an easy way to take off hte shocks? That silver rod is in the way of the screws? And also the exhaust is in the way of the other screw?

Well I found a way to do it without taking the engine off. This is complicated for someone who's never taken apart a nitro car and put it back together. The stiffer springs really help though. No more sagginness.
