shims from S 25 mill

I know i can safely remove one shim from my s 25 motor for increased compression and still have the clearance for it to operate safely. Anyone know if 2 shims can be safely removed??? My concern is if 2 is removed...i think i still will have enough clearance, but is the added compression bad for the pull start and con rod or could it easily take the added compression? I think i have heard of people doing this..but wanna check here first before i do.


I'm running an O.S. A3 plug.

Yes you can take off 2 without problems. I read this somewhere. 2 helps increase performance a lot.

Yes two can be removed safely. I did this when I had my S-25, it made my savage Wheelie every now and then. It is stated in RCCarAction in their article about modding the S-25. They even give the exact measurements of clearance.

Probably, not too big of a deal though. Probably just a tweak to the rich side. Oh, and I ran 20% in it too.

Cool, good luck! Let us know how it goes. Oh and keep the extra shims in a safe place, you may need them later and they are easily bent so becareful when pulling them off.

this is a old topic but I'm bringing it back, i just took my cooling head off my truck, looks like it only has 1 washer gasket, i dont know what shims they are talking about? This is for a Savage 25 right?
