sh 28 any good?

my bro is planing to buy the sh 28 on monday for $130. rugular price runs for $180 at hobby people's store. is this a good engine? should he just get a wasp or a picco? thanks for the help.

I remember hearing a couple people on the forum saying it was good, but Iv'e never used it. $130 seems like a good price for an engine making 3.5hp.

the sh is a beast. my dad has one in his mgt and it hauls ass. starts no the 2nd or 3rd pull every time and idles like a champ. WOT racing he comes of the track at 225ish with almost too much power. Great mill!

Ok, now, how is this engine for racing (MT....more specifically, the savage)? We all know there are racing and bashing engines.

Racing engine:
smooth throttle control
lots of controllable power.
relatively easy to tune

Bashing engine:
POWER
easy to tune

So, which is this engine for? Bashing or Racing?

The sh is a beast. It doesn't rev up like the Nova's but it does alright. If you have the correct gearing your rig will fly and for 130 you can't go wrong. At our track yesterday I was running 25 sec laps with my lsp and my dad was running 27 sec laps with his mgt w/sh .28. Great mill for the price!

You should look on savage central to see what people think of the SH 28 for the savage. Lots of them have had problems with the engine. Broken con rod seems to be the most common case. I remember people on savage central are starting a petition trying to get either their money back or trying to get SH to fix the problems of the engine.

If money is an issue, try getting the XTM 24.7 pro. They're great engines for the price.

OR

Go on ebay and buy a Picco 26 or 27. They're great engines as well.

I think that was in a single batch of engines as the parts were not up to spec and the problem has been addressed and fixed

The Sh .28 Is A Good engine. But I Like The Wasp More. Kinda Hard To Tune But Worth It...
