Those are the type of crank shaft. There are only 2 type, it's either Thread(standard) or SG(forgot the 2nd name for it). The SG are more common on higher end engines because they don't require a pilot shaft that a thread does. The SG is also a lot longer than the thread, give it more room to mout race clutch. Check your manual to see what type of Crank your car takes, you gotta know in order to figure out what type of crank engine you can buy.
