Is the Savage steering servo really that bad? I have read that its really weak but also was told that its adequate for any application with its 90 oz of torque. I haven't had the chance to test my savage out yet due to the weather for those who have any info will be helpful including replacement servos (are they a direct fit)

Dude I hate it when people say that servo is bad. I will say it's not the best seeing as how it will not turn the tires stock. Most of the problem is the stock bellcranks not having any help turning. Ball bearings take care of that. Also the stock servo saver is a huge problem with there being huge steering problems. I got ball bearings $10.00, Servo saver $5.00 and all of my slop is gone. I also got a receiver hump pack for it and I can now turn those big tires on carpet no problems. The biggest complaint the Sf-2 servo proposes is that it is a high torque servo with plastic insides. Replacing it is optioinal but it might be wise. Sooner or later the plastic gears will strip.

Well I have the ball bearings waiting to decide on a servo saver and whether or not I will replace the SF-2 with something better before I put everything back together. Did you go with the Kimbrough 124 or something else?

Look into the Monter Pirate Servo Saver for your savage. I put it on my SS and it is great! I got mine for like 18 bucks and that included the ball bearings too.

:stupid: I have done the same thing and gone with the monster pirate servo saver. I also upgraded the steering servo to the Hitec 645MG. Then move the old steering servo to the throttle/brake.

Killa I used the ofna servo saver it works just fine. However it only has like three holes to where you will attach the screw for the steering linkage. The Kimbrough will offer you more tuning options on it is all. It is pretty much the same thing. I too in time will get a new servo and flip the SF-2 to the throttle/ brake servo. Later
