what kind of setup will make the crt steer better/tighter/faster? i have the 9000t servo. also has any one installed the newer servo saver(40625) and will that improve steering?

You should look into your ackerman setting as well. You may be able to add some more steering that way by adjusting your ackerman link.

As far as servos I prefer the Airtronics 94358 and 94359.

FYI, Servo savers don't really have an effect to the speed unless you are now using ball bearings. They only preven damage to the steering servo. Hence the term " Servo Saver" .

Toe out in front will give you more initial steering and help stabilize your car when going straight. There are other adjustments such as ackerman, droop, caster, and roll-bars among others, but you need to be more specific as to what type of steering change you're looking for. Here is a very nice read which will help explain.

i have the pro kit so it is a ball bearing servo saver. i figured it wouldn't affect steering. can you have it too tight? also i have adjusted the Ackerman back as far as it will go. i have also soften the front suspension and firmed up the rear a bit. would any other adjustment help out as well. i have it adjusted for toe in, maybe i'll adjust for toe out next time I'm at the track

I would see where the changes you did now got you. Otherwise you might loose track of what changes worked.

If you still need more steering try a stiffer sway bar in the rear. But first try out the changes already done to it.

CRT's are tough to get really good steering out of. I found going up to 20K or 30K in the center dif helped quite a bit. Get the Xray XB8 manual and look at pages 36-43 for good info on setups and what they do. Also as bart said, limit you changes to one or two max at a time.

If you disconnect the servo horn and turn the wheels and there is drag, you will need to loosen the servo saver. I have read alot about diff setups for crt's and it seems like 5,7,2 is the most popular setup. Thats what i am going to try next.

I am running 5, 10, and 3 in mine and am having no problems what so ever. I also spent some cash on a nice Highspeed digital servo. I would see what the changes you have made do to the handling first before trying anything else which has been already stated. Have you tried a different front caster block?
