I just replaced my stock tc3(rtr) radio with a JR XR2 Radio, I am more than impressed with it, the servos are as fast as I need and the steering control is turn on a dime sharp! very easy to learn and understand the settings and manual and for the price $100 you really can't beat it! this is what comes in the box....
JR XR2 a2,2channel,2 model memory computer radio control
2-Z250 servos
a122 receiver w/bec
1-Z250 servo and 1-e-s-c
the 2 model memory is sweet! I can program both of my tc3s without any changes, just flip the memory and go! alot of radio for the money, its nice to see this once in a while!
I definately second the JR XR2... Great radio & receiver... As for servos, you might want to get a nice Hitec 5645 for steering.
If you plan on getting the reverse module, you'll have to get the JR XR3.
well, if you just want to bash, hobbico makes a good metal gear 133oz (under 6v power) steering servo for around $40. i say bash because it isn't nearly as fast as some servos (.20 sec under 6.0v). If you're looking to race, you're gonna want the high-speed as well as muscle. For bashing, it's a great steering servo.
I use the HiTec digital servo that someone mentioned above; the HS5645MG. It is about as tough as they come and works equally well in MTs, buggies and on road racers.
I think you will find the HiTec line the most cost effective and powerful for the price. Unless someone else has got HiTec beat for power and price, I think you will keep getting pointed in that direction.
The Hitec HS-645MG servo costs $39.99 at Tower Hobbies. This is the most common steering servo you will find when you ask others about steering servos.
