We need to know what price range you're looking in. I put a Hitec HS7955TG in mine and its awesome.

thanks bud not that I'm loaded or anything but if the truck needs it ill buy it what are thay worth? i just put a hitec hs 945mb that i had but its the same is this a common problem? when i bought it the guy a the hobby shop told me that the servo is pretty good i reckon its crap

The 945 is a good servo but not enough torque for the xl. imo
Just a question. Are your batteries good and charged? If they're not then that could be the problem.

For monster trucks (or any 1/8 scale), the larger surface area of the tires makes it much harder to turn at stop/slow speed if the steering servo doesn't have enough torque, especially in grass. You're going to want at least 150+oz of torque, 200+ is even better.

Your 945 is only 122oz @ 4.8v. If you switched to a 6.0v pack it can do 153oz. The servo you have isn't *bad* but it just not up to the job. The one abadk9420 linked is pretty good.

thanks guys the batterys were charged but i thought the same thing so i put another pack in and the same, how about the radio thats not the best either for some reason on a windy day the servos start moving on there own and stuff like that does anybody else have that problem?

Have you adjusted the dual rate knob on the transmitter?
AM radios blow monkeys. I'm assuming you have the stock HPI radio.

make sure to check the servo saver before shelling out for a new saver. turn the wheels on grass and see if the saver is to loose and not moving the tires before splitting.
