I searched everywhere on the internet and here and wasn't able to find a good answer. I would just like to confirm my suspicions.

I have a T-Maxx, it is the new version. The servo saver (#4945) is very loose. To the point where on the ground the wheels won't turn, you can see that the spring is much too loose and it is just letting the plastic ride up on one another.

I took it apart, looking for away to tighten the saver and I can't find anything that would allow it to be tightened and as such, I believe I need to purchase a new spring, bushing or the whole unit (#4945). Most likely just the whole unit.

Can anyone confirm or deny this?

There's a small plastic spacer in there that has to go a certain way. That may be missing. You could also look for a better spring or maybe even shim the spring somehow.

I took it apart and looking at the exploded diagram it all seems to be there. So I guess my two options are shimming or buying a new unit. I was hoping there would be an aftermarket option that would allow for setting the tension of the spring.

I know on my other trucks they all allow for this tunning using a threaded collar you turn the nut on the collar to increase or decrease tension, but from my research it doesn't appear like they have this option available.

I'm actually quite surprised that I couldn't find any more information on this, maybe I am just unlucky and a replacement unit will work better.

** upon further research it appears you posted a similiar question and yet never came up with a solution. That is depressing.

A after market steering set is available with the servo saver built in and its adjustable I can't remember what its called but if you do a search on eBay or Google for it I'm sure you will find it and at the same time your upgrading the steering and getting rid of the saver that hangs low under your t maxx good luck
