So i've been racing my HPI savage in the snow lately here in michigan, and i was wondering why my steering serso keeps stripping? is it because of the snow or for different reasons? Le me know if you hvae any ideas, please! Thanks :)

the extra drag of the snow is probably part of the problem, but you also need a high torque servo, i think the reccomended minimum is 211oz no sure on that tho

If your using the stock hpi SF2 servo there known for stripping out I went through 3 of them beore I upgraded to a traxxas 2075 its water proof and almost bullet proof. and there only like 20 - 24$ shipped on Ebay... way more torque and twice as fast

Imo, 125oz is a little on the weak side. I'd go 160oz or higher, depending on your budget. Waterproofing a servo is easy. No need for that to be a direct consideration when looking. A 5 cell rx battery pack is a must to get the best performance out of any radio system, including the servos.

125 is def still a bit weak for a Savage. I'm running a 148oz servo and it still leaves me wanting a bit more. But it is metal geared and hasn't stripped with several snow sessions on it.

Yeah I'm using the stock SF2 servo. Thank you very much for the suggestion, I'll have to look into on if the traxxas ones, because I like steering my truck, haha. Thanks again!

FYI.....the expensive 300 oz. in. torque servos will break the truck before stripping the gears....They last forever too. My JR 9000 is over 4 years old and still kicking butt. I had to replace the servo case once, a wopping 7 bucks.
The Hitec Ti. gears are my favorites. They do not develop slop, I've never seen a Hitec Ti. gear servo get sloppy.
Anyone who's been in this hobby long will tell you, save your money and buy a good servo. It will be cheaper in the long run. I lost count of all the cheap to mid grade servos that failed me. Well over 20.....do the math.

How much are the Hi-Tec ones? I'm just looking for something that with crank my steering pretty good, not strip, and last long... :)

Check towerhobbies for the CS-170 and TS-170. They are made by Hitec. 300 oz. of torque and Ti. gears for 80 bucks. Last servo you'll ever need, well for a good while anyways.
