Hey everyone been lurking here for a while and decided to join. Great info here and hoping to meet some fellow R/C enthusiasts.

I recently got back into the hobby and purchased a Savage which I have wanted since they came out with the OG 21's. I got a brand new Savage X 4.6 and am really enjoying bashing her around. Thus far I have gotten the tune down, wheelies nicely and screams around at WOT.

So far I have replaced the stock spur gear after messing up my gear mesh during a landing. Got the gear in and meshed it perfect and went bashing around some more when my brakes went out. I figured I may need new brakes but after looking around heard it could be my servo and sure enough the throttle went out too and the servo is now toast. Switched the channels to be sure it wasn't a rx/tx issue and was not so purchased a new Hitec 645mg servo as my throttle. Got it hooked up and working. Now I have noticed a few issues. When I apply throttle there is no issue the horn moves and returns back to idle point fine. The brakes however do not respond when I engage the trigger and the horn then never returns to the idle point. The horn will move but the brakes do not engage and the truck does not stop but then when releasing the brakes, the horn will move passed the idle point and engage the throttle, if I hit blip the throttle a little though it will then return to the idle when I let go. Also the little stalk with the spring on it does not respond to the servo arm. When the arm moves towards the front of the truck it pushes the spring but when returning it will not pull the stalk back with it and the spring remains about a 1/2 in in front of the horn till I physically push it back? Unsure if these issues are related.

Is this something I need to look into the Ofna throttle mod to fix?

Trying to figure everything out that is going on. If anyone can help, input is greatly appreciated.

The Ofna throttle/ brake linkage mod is a cheap and it helps response and reliability. Defiantly the way to go. Also you may want to upgrade your steering servo.

You think the reason my servo is responding like this is because that linkage is crap?

Try tightening the screw down. That horn is actually two pieces stacked on top of one another with the spring sandwiched in between them. If the screw backs out or is stripped or if the head of the screw is too small they will separate and cause the issue you are describing.

yea I checked the screw its in there real good and yes the horn has two arms but I don't have a spring unless you mean the little silver clip that sits in between them.

Yeah that's not a clip it's a spring. That's what returns the throttle arm to the neutral position after you let off the brakes.
