I went out today at my local track (1.5hrs) away and saw a few 1/8th scale on-road cars sitting in the pits. There was about 13 1/10th scale cars out and they were mostly practicing and playing tagg. I watched and laughed it up a little watching the guys hit and draft eachother, then I have enough of that poop. I decided at home to bring the 950R (Serpent) to the track to show it off to a few of the guys after I got it anodized a little. We got the little ones off the track and fired up the big boys. Three other of my buddies have paid me to do work on their 1/8th scale cars as well, so we all had pretty close setups.
I fired up my car last after we got my other three buddies cars on and warmed up. I got out to the track and the work on my motor that I did on the porting was insane. The car sounded like it was a small block Chev with a huge cam in it. Make a long story short, a cop showed up and asked me aprox... how fast my car was. I told him about 90MPH. He told me that was stupid and there was no way. He got out his radar gun out and all four of the cars I worked on did over 100MPH on the straight. It is a regualation size 1/8 scale track. I was amazed by the porting and experimenting on my own engine mods went. It was stupid fast. My mouth dropped. The car ran on rails during this speed and didn't get sideways or anything.
Just thaught I would share the good news with you all.
I can give more info if you want to PM me. Can't tell the ultra motor secrets though. LOL
Peter
Open to questions.

yea, and my giant green carrot goes nineteeneleven miles per nanosecond.:trout:

I believe the Serpent can go that fast, but, not on a track. You either need so much traction that you would have no steering OR you would need soooo much straight away it wouldnt be found on a track. And I've seen on-roads do 100+, just not on the short. Id like to see video of this car on the track being clocked at 109!

Dont get me wrong, your porting jobs are probably awesome. I am in no way trying to take that away from you. And if you sell them, the secret costs as much as your port job itself. And if you are getting mills to crank that high in RPM's, how hot are they running? How long is a tank of fuel lasting?

I want to see vid of this. Then Ill be a believer. Until then, Ill give you 70+ on a track. And 100+ on a loooooooooooooooong straight (with 3 gears)

It does have 3 gears
The Straight is almost a football and a half long and 2 long sweeping turns before the straight. Trust me, it can do it and it did. I will see if I can get my buddies video camera to post a little video on the net.
I have been experimenting on this motor for the last 4.5 years.
Lots of time and money into it. It runs about 258 to 260 at full temp. The head is like the size of 2 .12 cooling heads.
Peter
Christian, check your PM for some of the other mods

lol - in my world, 150-200 yards is a runway. Something I have never seen on a track. At least not in these parts. I know there are tracks that big though! Man thats awesome!

Like I said, I didnt doubt it, I just doubted it on a short track.

can't wait to see that vid man!

106 with a serpent!!!

Somers - Did I hear you correctly you have a three speed tranny on this 950 ? Is it one of the older three speed trannys that serpent put out? What are your gear ratio for first , second, and third gear? The reason I asked is my winter project is to put a 21 size engine and a three speed on a impact with a modified rb engine. I am hoping to hit 90 miles an hour with it . But you going 109 , that is awesome!!

Somers - How much horsepower do you think you are putting out?

The transmition is made by me. The ratio used is 1st (48) 2nd (43) 3rd (38) and some large pinions.
The motor put out 2.7 HP stock and then I lightened everything and ported everything. The motor revs to 39.000RPM @3.1 to 3.2HP. The pullies are also a little larger than the stock ones as well. I ran the boost bottle on it to give it some more power on the high end, so it might have helped out to. I have dyno'd the motor at my sponsors shop and I was told it put out 3.128HP, so it is a lot for that motor. It idles but it sounds like a small block Chev because the intake duration is so long.
Peter
Hope this gives you the info you wanted.

Serpent 950 @ 106mph!!

Somers Racing - Thanks for the information ! If you every decide to mass produce that tranny I would like to buy one!! And that is some kind of monster motor you have created!

Hey Somers - Any chance we can see a photo of this 950R ?

This cannot be true, just read this quote:

i have a siro .21 br sitting right next to me, and i know its not any faster then my ws7II.... maybe 60kmh..

sorry had to do it, I crack my own ass up!!! I belive it as I have seen the 1/8's do around 85-90 so I believe it got there!! Good story!

Nitro head, I will have pics and a video soon. I have to get it out this weekend to take some pics, and my buddy thought it would be cool to tape it and post it. I might make an exception to make you one or mass produce them. I have been asked by a couple of guys on here to produce my motors, so I think some time in the near future I might do engine work for people on here. As for the tranny, I think I want to do more testing on it and make sure it is everything I want it to be. I don't want to sell some to people on here and them 1 month later find that I have built a lighter ans stronger one.
Thanks guys for taking an intrest in it. Keep the questions and comments coming. If anyone wants me to produce some parts for them, I am taking note of who so I know if it is worth producing them.

I would love to see some pictures of the 3-speed tranny including the clutch clock if you don't mind.

Still working on those videos? That's an amaising story. It'd be sweet to see!

Do you balance your cranks toos or just lighten em?

-Rob

I do all my own work and have done evrything possible to make this motor put out the max power without breaking.
I am still working on the video's, but I was out on the weekend and my buddies 1/10 scale caught fire and Fu$$ed up the track serface and I didn't want to run on it. Sorry for now guys, I am still working to prove my work is true cause some don't think it is possible.
Peter
Thanks guys for showing an intrest in my work, feels good to know I am being reconized for it.
As of now, no motor work will be done on anyother motors because I want to do more tests and not break anyones motor.
Keep asking though, because I want to see how many want work done so I know if its worth renting the shop lathe and some other industrial tools.
Keep asking
