it is all stock with the exception of a hpi 15t brushed motor.

it slips quite a bit when crawling, and on take off from a standing start. i have checked the spring and tightend it all the way down and still get the same response. i pulled it apart to check the pads, it feels smooth to the touch. so i roughed it up a bit, put all back together, got the same thing. i have considered putting the stock 27t motor back in it, but i am thinking it is going to have more low end torque which would make it slip easier.

any ideas of how to resolve this? i really miss the little guy. :\

A 15t motor shouldnt have hardly any tq in that setup imo. Id change out to a 27t or even better a 35 or 45t. You can get an Integy 35 or 45t for like $20 and yes they are good, it doesn't matter that their integy, they are easily the most popular crawler motors ever. What battery's are you using too?

i am using nimh batts. the truck is a rtr version i traded for and it came with a red amainhobbies 6 cell, i also use a 3300 orion vmaxx 6 cell nimh.

if it is slipping that much with a 15t motor, wouldnt it slip easier with the 27t or the integy motors you suggested? is there a better slipper i could be using with the setup that i have? i have thought about changing it out for a revo style slipper, but unsure if it will work with the trans as i havent taken it out to check if it will indeed fit/work. any ideas?

**on a side note, SNG you have helped me (probably) more than just about anyone on the site. i would like to personally thank you for your time, insight and responses to my posts. i am sure that you guru's get tired of answering the same questions that we have, and i for one am very gratefull for the knowledge you pass along to us. thanks again, nick:thumbup:

No problem, thats what were here for.

I'm not too sure since I never run slippers on mine. If you have it all the way tight, then it shouldnt slip at all especially with a motor like that without much torque. Hmmmmm....You sure the slipper is whats going on?

it will dead stop and sqeal, i have checked with the body off and you can watch the spur gear spin but the truck dont move. if i let off and ease onto the throttle it will slip a little then start moving. flat ground doesn't give these results unless you just cram the throttle.

if you dont use slippers on your rigs, what kind of setup do you use?

Axial trans but without a slipper. I'm sure someone will chime in that has a slipper too. Alpine might run both so he might have some advice.

check your drivetrain for binding. I ran a 14T cobalt puller on 6S with an scx tranny and it never slipped if i torqued it. I snapped links off of axles and it still never slipped.

sounds to me like your drivetrain is either bound up pretty bad or your slipper installation is somehow botched.

from what i have seen in a fully locked diff system from my other truck, a summit, this truck seems to roll just as free when picked up and tires spun by hand. when i get home i will be able to tear it down and see whats up inside the front and rear axels. I'm at the inlaws for a few more days untill they get home from a trip to cali. as i mentioned above this is a rtr version truck and was never ran when i got it, so i would like to think there wouldnt be any issues there, i could see a bad slipper leaving the factory, but i would think they would test the axels before install in the truck. but either way i am excited to tear em down, i would probably wanna have some grease or something for the diffs? any advise for a first time axel tear down would be appreciated as i want it to work after i am done.

Wheel bearing grease will do the trick. I've seen guys seal the case seams with rtv as well. Do those slippers have the pegs, like the old Traxxas units? Maybe replacing them would get the bite back.
