Ok so tonight I learned the importance of taking the savage apart once in a while and cleaning it. I have been stripping spur gears like no body's business lately. I managed to even strip a Robinson Racing Metal spur man was I upset about that. Could be a combo of things. Well newayz I found that one of the screws that go's into the bulkhead from the bottom of the skid plate was able to make it through the bulk and I think this has been my problem. Also come to find out that my rear diff had been without any fluid so I but some fresh 5K in there and I'm puttin 7K in the front. Question is right now for me what are we doing here to make it not happen again?? Shorten the screw?? New Bulk's?? Please help
 
I don't see how the bulkhead could be responsible for your spur gears. The engine plate and mount are what keep the engine aligned with the spur and it's held by the tvp's. Did you replace the stock screws with something longer? Reason I ask is I tore down my truck last night so I could install my alloy diff & gear box in the back so everything there is fresh in my mind. I just don't see the connection with what you're saying. The only thing screwed into the bulkhead are the tvp's, the rear braces for the skid and connecting rods for the c hubs. The rest of it attaches to the gear box so you could be looking in the wrong place for a solution to your problem.

check the motor mounts, i stipped a few before i found at what it was. but i also had a bent motor mount :(
 
I knew I should have taken a picture. There are two pan head screws that ride in the skid plate up to the bulkhead. Very coarse thread. When I wrote that I may not have been clear. Also I have to agree there is another issue with the truck as far as spur's go. I think my idler shaft is quite bent the one that the spur rides on. Somehow it has managed to get bent.

Let me just add that if you use too long of a screw which I did it will either lock up the proper diff cup which mine did not or it will ride up just enough to poke a hole in the bulkhead and make that ride on the diff cup causing vibration which has happened and was obvious by the amount of no paint on the diff cup.

i did the same thing. when i put my car back together i used two of the four screws that hold the back upright on (the bit that take the body holders) to hold that bottom plate on .when i realised that i had a problem i striped it down and i had used the short screws in the upright and i put the long up. like u siad it rubbed on my back diff and made it very hard on my spur .it was like trying to drive with ur bracks on:cross:
 
Do you have excess play in your spur gear? It seems to be a common thing and I've noticed some play myself on my own truck. The diff cup is housed in the gearbox and the bulkhead is around the exterior of the gearbox so maybe your terminology is what's confused us about all of this. The skid is attached to the gearbox not the bulkhead.
 
You must be talking about the metal brace under the skid which is attached by two screws to the underside of bulkhead. I suppose that you could go up on your thread size so the screw could grip the plastic in the bulkhead. My screws are kind of loose in those holes also so I wouldn't worry too much about it.
