RC Driving Style
  1. Bashing
So we're at the RCNT Bash in Hampton Roads today and a fellow shows up with what looks and sounds like a T-Maxx sporting a Hummer body. Mind you, we are bashing on a 1:1 BMX track so the jumps are huge for these RCs...but they do make for nice air.

Anyway, back to the REVO. I am running one of my buggies through its paces and this guy starts to run with me. He is actually getting some very good air, and has me wondering what he has in this "T-Maxx" that has it able to make the same jumps with ease. Then he says it is a REVO...the next jump he totally destroys the rear suspension. Busted his shocks and tower from the looks of it. No knock here, but it was at that point that my impression changed. LOL...another fine TRAXXAS product.

I will give it this...it was quick, agile, responsive, and could get some seriously good air. Beef up the suspension and strengthen the support for that suspension and it could actually be a basher. Without it, this thing says racer and nothing more. I say this because a basher shouldn't break so easily...like say a stock T-Maxx.

Just thought I'd share my opinion on this new RC with you guys.

yea i have owned a few traxxas in my life, for the price i think they are pretty good, but i will prob. neva buy one again, although i kinda want a revo beucz of how its designed, its pretty freakin Awsome!!!

There are now 2 Revos at the local track, and I have to say, they impress me. One guy just runs fast laps on the big oval, and the other guy spends most of the time airborne on the free style track. The body was shattered on the first day, but nothing else has been broken yet.

I just started break in on my revo today and it is sweet. I don't intend on doing any extreme bashing so i'm not worried about breaking it. This thing turns on a dime. It turns around super quick without going into a spin or without flipping. I havn't tuned for performance yet but i can tell this thing is gonna be a rocket. The engine so far runs well with low temps. Also the piston and sleeve have the tighest fit out of any small block i have previously owned. I think traxxas really did a good job on this truck.

that's so funny, as I too said after my T-Maxx money pitt I would never buy a Traxxas again. Well here I am eating my words.

there were two npeople racing them this season at the track. They ran nice but i wasn't impressed that much by them. They also seemed slower on the straight aways than the other MT's.

The REVO is definetly BETTER then the T-MAXX IMO... The first day i got mine i was jumpin 30 + FEET. I got alot of video but i can't find a place to host them,so i can post em on here. So if anyone knows where i can get some small vid's hosted please let me know...

shame all 5 so far that come 2 our local track are in the hands of poor drivers...only reason the very few parts that have broken have....driver induced 4 certain. and somehow goin out their 4 open practice w/a buggy makes it worse b/c they see u as a carrot...let alone tryin 2 stay up w/a stock tmaxx that outlaps them b/c the guy can drive.

otherwise a nice lookin truck

This wasn't really an "up against any..." situation. This was purely a bash session on a BMX track. We just happened to be running at the same time on the same chunk of the track.

No he didn't race any other MTs despite the fact that we had an ST and a Savage floating around. My assessment is simply from my own knowledge and experience with T-Maxx and Savages. The truck was pretty darn quick and very agile. It did fly very well and the landings were nice. I would say that the suspension was very plush just from the way it handled the big jumps.

My only issue was the fact that it was tanked inside of one tank of fuel. And that it was done in by a very non-descript landing from a relatively big jump. He landed rubber side down with maybe a little lean towards the rear of the truck. It was nothing that should have broken the truck in the fashion that the truck broke...but it happened.

Like I said, I was impressed right up until it broke. Then I was a little disappointed. I, personally, saw nothing that made me want to jump up and go buy one, and Team...you know how I used to be with MTs.

If it didn't meet your standards, then it's not worth getting! lol

Thanx for the info, it narrowed my choices down for X-mas.

Team, no problem. I will caveat my information by saying that it looked like a nice truck and that it could probably be turned into a formidable basher given some time and serious money applied towards hop-ups. BUT in my book it is a race truck and should stay there unless you want to spend the money it will take to make it a basher.

My opinion might change if I actually ran one vice just watched one run, but I doubt it. I'm putting my $500-700 towards spare buggy parts and perhaps a new RC Boat.

I have personally jumped the crap out of mine today and it was fine other than a shock end that was easily replaced with a spare. I acutally tried to hurt it. As for being tanked one the first tank, I think we all have been there with any vehicle. I have been there with my buggies few times, done in minutes.

deff more testing will have to be done before a final verdict but keep in mind the fluke factor.

No disagreement here. Just voicing my opinion and sharing what I saw. Take it or leave it. :D
