hello, I'm new to this and was wondering why the roto start2 locked up. I just got done with the 3 tank break in and now the roto2 wont kickin, its locked, what should i do? thanks for the help

Welcome to RCNT!!!! did you check your batteries in the roto start? also can you turn your motor over by hand? if the motor is locked up the roto stast will not turn it over, and if your roto start batteries are dead or to low it will not turn the motor over...

also make sure you didn't pop the breaker on the rotostart (that little red button on the side) sometimes if the engine is flooded the rotostart will throw its breaker and you have to push that little red button back in.

I would also take the glow plug out and try it. The motor may be in hydrolic lock

The motors are set quite rich, I would guess you flooded it. Remove the glow plug and try to turn it over. I had a one way bearing go bad during break in, it's caused because it was tuned way too rich even from break in with the factory settings. Anyway, the rotostart wasn't locked it, the rotostart would spin, it just wasn't turning the crankshaft over.

Make sure you unplug your battery from your rotostart when you are finished running your truck or it will go dead, that what seems to happen to mine but what do I know I'm still learning every day.

you could have fuel lock it happens to me a bit wen i forget to put the glo igniter in lol
u should take the glo plug out and tip the truck upside down then pull the pull start if u have one if not turn it over with ur roto start i hope this helps.

Strange problem, wonder if you guys can help.

I've had an Hpi Savage for a while now and it runs great. I recently bought an Hpi K5.9 engine from ebay which was in used but good condition. I tested it to see if it ran on the bench and it did. i put it in my car and reset all the needles back to factory so i could go about tuning it. All needles were set very lean before. I then tried for about an hour to start it, but it didnt like it. After getting frustrated with it i decided to swap my k4.6 back in. As i disasembled the exhaust, loads and i mean loads of fuel poured out! It was as if the engine was running super rich! or just pumping the fuel straight to the exhaust! Very odd.

I think there must be some error with the carb, but could it be that these engiens just need to be tweeked loads from the factory settings to very lean settings? Or is it that the engine had a harder life than the seller said and its a write off. PS good compression and smooth piston.

Any help would be great.

Matt

I would just use a drill if u have one. I had the same problem with my losi rotostart. My drill with lithium starts all my trucks all day long. just an idea
